Hi all
Got a hold of a type 4 2L reco'ed engine. Was tossing up taking out the old 1500 and putting it into the baja as is using all type 4 cooling etc.
Ideas and opions.

itll work and has been done a few times but be aware the motor wont live a long and trouble free life if u leave the type 4 cooling system on
reason being is in a kombi it gets cool air ducted to the fan intake from the dumbo vents up on the rear roof pillars
in ur baja its gonna suck in all the hot air off the exhaust and cylinders/heads and get nice and toasty
that and in stock form type4s are a hell of a lot of weight to hang unsupported off the tranny
once converted to upright tho they not much heavier than stock 1600
