Hello
My '69 Merc developed a leak couple of days ago. Found a burst hose which is coming out of this thing below. Excuse my ignorance, don't know what it is but looks like a thermostat. After taking the hose off, I found the casing is rusted. What do I do? Is it fixable?

no not repairable why you ask well it will only let you down so get a new one i dont think it will break you

u would be pretty mad to try and repair that but a replacement being a 69 merc might be a needle in a hay stack
its not the heater core tap is it?
if it is u may be able to just loop the hose back to the engine if u can live without a heater

why not drill the broken pipe out and carefully braze another one in❓

cut the pipe off and use the flange and remanufacture a new pipe and outlets. If you are in Sydney contact Westi at Westside Mufflers as I'm sure he'd be able to do it.

There is a huge Merc place that I pass sometimes in Sydney, I'm sure you would have the same sort of places down there.
If cant buy one it wouldn't be hard to make one out of stainless.
