give Vintage 9789-1777 a call I believe they have a transistorized flasher unit that will fit in the same place

The old type as per your picture are very fragile and prone to failure

I got mine from Supercheap auto, I think it even had that it was listed for the beetle on the back of the pack.

I don't know of any other car , where the flasher bulb in the speedo flashes alternately to the outside lamps...

usually they all flash together.... if its NON Genuine VW..

I wondered that too Dave so I asked him and he said he bought a 12v type which would explain things.

thats a 2 pin and wont work on a 3 pin blinker
