Does anyone know if these are available?.. I have been told they were advertised in a mag quite a few years back.. any leads would be great..

I think they were in VW Trends years ago (early 90's). but thats the limit on my knowledge. Do a search on here because I think this has been talked about before.

Dave.. yes they were available some time ago (speak to Boris).. Trouble is he has lost the mag they were in and sourcing is difficult,,
Thought about making one but put off with the thought of trying to drill toughened glass..

This is not quite what I meant.. It was sent in reply on TheSamba..
I guess I could fabricate a steel frame insert and cut the glass to fit.. Chrome the frame?.. Might be an idea..
I have already posted this to my fabricator but I don't think he will take it on.. Any ideas?

im sure ive seen a pic of exactly what you describe, i believe its in an ultra vw or volksworld mag i have from the last few years, ill have a flick through to see if i can find it, but yes, exactly what you describe has been done before, i think the frame was stainless not chromed if you wanted to be really picky

Might be a long stretch, but have you thought about sending creative engineering in the UK an email. I know they only do them for bus's, but you never know! ........or they might have some idea on who does make them, if they're in that sort of business I'm sure they've looked at all sorts of other companies products over the years.
