Is this the correct positioning of the wires on the genny? I removed it to inspect but after I reinstalled it the red light stays on. Anything else to look for??

mine has red wire to left terminal ,green little one to the right ,and brown screws into the genny case馃檪

Ours is the same. Large red wire to the left. small green wire to the right and brown wire on the generator case back behind where the clamp is.

where does that black wire connected to D+ go to??

thats unregulated power and shouldnt be connected to anything cept the regulator
D+ on the left should only have the big red wire to the corresponding terminal on the regulator and DF on the right same deal green wire to DF on the reg

Joel, that small black wire goes up inside the genny - not sure where it connects to but it is not to a brush. Its strange because all of the manuals I have seen only mention the other two wires. This is a later model D1 1200 motor - dont know if they are any different. Anyways it is not producing any charge so time to remove and take in for an overhaul.
