would anyone know what lenght studs ill need on my front standard discs. im running 2 inch beam at the moment. and would like my 6j fuch,s with 185-55.s sitting close to where they should be if i was running a stock beam.

somehow i have worked out if i use 10mm spacers and the offset of dropped spindles this will get me close but that doesnt tell me what lenght studs i need.

my beetles a 64 if this helps at all.

any help would be great, cheers.

Hey Chris, as standard Porsche used 52mm or 55mm studs for those rims, but that's on an alloy hub which is probably thicker than the mounting surface of a beetle disc.

To figure it out, you want at least the depth of the mounting face of the rim to the bottom of the ball seat, plus the height of the nut, plus the thickness of your hub where the stud pushes through, plus the thickness of any spacers you want to run.

I'll likely have the front discs off my car next weekend, so will be able to tell you if no-one's come up with a definite answer by then...

Oh - btw - as a maths check:

beam -25.4mm
spacer +10mm
drop spindle +6.35mm
rim outer edge +12.7mm (6J compared to 5J rim)
offset difference -2mm (ET36 compared to ET34)

==

outside edge 1.65mm further out than standard (I think)
