WANTED, Info, replacement or at least a direct answer to point me in the right direction

Righto girls and boys iv got a bit of a query for you, need a so called rag top for a super bug, now first of all how do you identify if its original or if its been added later its the type that is set into the centre of the roof with a slide down each side and a latch in the front. i have seen a few bugs around on the net with this type of set up on them but have no idea where to get the replacement canvas for it.

any one got any ideas????

oh on the front piece of chrome mounted the body there is a stamp which says slide away, havent had any luck with that lead but to somebody on here it might mean somehing

hi i'm assuming you mean superbug. they didn't have ragtops from the factory, all factory sunfoof super beetles had steel sliders.

factory sunroofs (both ragtops and steel sliders) were made by a german company called GOLDE. the handles will be marked as such.

the most common aftermarket ragtops were by a british? company britax.

Do you just need a replacement material cover?
If so the roof you have is not a factory volkswagen and you will need to take it to a motor trimmer.

thanks guys, iv got a few motor trimmers we use at work that i can get to take a look at it, was just going to see what was available to take a bit of the guess work out of it, will keep looking as we have 6 months to get the body prepped for paint just waiting for the rain to ease up
