im told this stuff is bad for retaining heat?

ive never used it before - just love the look!
anyone shed any light??
is it better to just paint the old ones??

chrome tinware has the same effect alfoil over a roast in the oven depending who you ask
ppl will argue till the cows come home about it saying black is best, chrome sux bla bla bla
i think its more the chrome stuff out there is just really shitty quality taiwanese silver paper that doesnt fit right and is missing to many internal deflector vanes
my take on it is its only directing air which comes out the bottom of the engine anyway at 3000rpm it doesnt have time to reflect heat, absorb heat, fight world peace etc
so long as it fits rights it should work fine regardless of the colour the outside is
i ran with good german tin that was chrome plated for a while on a 1776 that ran nice and cool
ive also been running for 8 years with white tinware same deal
my old mans bontrike is a 97 model and has had chrome 36hp shroud and cylinder tin since new and after 12 years and 44,000kms the engine has never been touched and never got hot
altho the tin has a few cracks and various rattles thro it

yes with so many views on this topic its hard to know i love the way it looks to but have been warned against it as said i guess quality has the most influence here is it better to clean and chrome the og stuff?
Joel ·
thats all mine was even on a modified 1835 and 1776 it didnt run hot
i finally gave in after years of painting tinware and had mine powdercoated white
the money i spent on paint over the years is probably more than what the powder coating cost
its very durable finish, doesnt scratch or stain easily and looks a million dollars

Try George at Classic VDub, he does a the chrome kits at a pretty good price,

i also like the look of 36hp shrouds over the doghouse style. do the older shrouds fit on the newer motors
