Hey Guys, Ive decided to order some rubbers direct from WCM as there is a $30 price difference between them an suppliers there on some of the part im ordered.
(Let me clarify, thats a $30 a piece saving on some parts)

That said Im wondering if anyone else has ordered direct with them with, how did you register your Oz address? I cant see how you can specify anything other than US State addresses.

Also, did anyone get stung with lots of tax to pay on an order?

Thanks in advance

Yogie ·

From memory I emailed them about it and we did the deal via fax.

I think if its under $1000, no extra tax and/or if they state on the box that its vintage car parts.

With the OZ dollar the way it it, I'm surprised you can buy cheaper.

Do they still make printed catalogs? I think mine is about 10 years out of date.

I didn't know You could buy direct from West Coast Metric

I thought You had to buy from a retailer in the uS...

I bought My rubbers from CIP1
made in the USA good quality..
good price...

although Our dollar was worth more then...
but I just wanted good quality rubbers without paying an arm and a leg... lol

I've heard that Wolfsburg West sell good rubbers too..
made by them...

Are You paying by Pay Pal ??

any rubbers should be OK if they are made in the USA..

its just those South Americian rubbers that can be rubbish
[10% of stuff from Brazil is OK...}
finding the 10% IS the hard part... lol

They are good people to deal from...

just remember that early beetles went to 1964 in USA.
in 1965 the USA beetles had the large glass windows We received in 1968...

they also had different tail lamps in 1971-72.. [larger]
I have two rubbers from these I bought at a swap meet...

their tail lamps are excellent quality too...

cheers

have you tried buying these parts in australia? it seems as if there are plenty of vw shops around the country that sell rubbers. i don't quite get the idea of importing these sort of parts if you could get them locally? ive never had probs sourcing parts here. or is there a real benefit to be had when purchasing from overseas? just curious because ive never done it

Gibbo ·

yeah mate... "Ive decided to order some rubbers direct from WCM as there is a $30 price difference between them an suppliers there on some of the part im ordered."

DirkHedde ·

that last sentence or quote doesn't even make sense. are you trying to say that you will save $30 by buying in the parts from the usa? doesnt sound like its worth it to me

Gibbo ·

I Save $30 a PIECE by buying from the states... now thats a lot of money saved when you are buying 10+ pieces dont ya think?

vw54 ·

wait for the import tax and other crap

then theres the customers service on the return bits

Gibbo ·

From the customs website:

Imported goods with a value of A$1000 or less

* Imported goods arriving by post will be released duty and tax free by Customs for delivery direct to the addressee
