Guy who works next door to me gave me this. From what ive been told its a 1963, 1200. It has no motor. Came with an instruction manual and a full service history.

What do you think?

Dilbert ·

...and it currently has hail smashing on it.... crap...

vwrallycar ·

always good if its free!!
but needs a lot of work

555bug ·

don't stress there is a bit of paint and panel required 🙂 Looks like a good project if you need to pick up some panel repair skills.

Yeah I'd say it was free cos there is bugger all metal left in the shell...... 🤪

grumble ·

The bloke must like you ,he gave you the owners handbook and the front bumper looks good. Sorry mate but there is a lot of dollars and hard work to be done if you are going to make something out of it,look carefully before starting,it could save a lot of heartbreak. cheers Les

Appears to be quite rusty, notice how various parts are rusted right through.

Might be best to part her out and help a few other Beetle's stay on the road.

Joel ·

send it to the UK thats a perfect resto car over there
most start out way worse than that

Dilbert ·

i was debating over working on it or stealing parts and finishing my 69.
the more i think about it the more i don't want to go through new floors and sills again...

Dilbert ·

i think the only cars id have the motivation to work on after the 69 would be an oval or a 356.

11CAB ·

Wont be anything there to take for your 69

hellbugged ·

it's stuffed.........👎...........

Dilbert ·

oh i can make enough parts from it fit my 69.

stevosky ·

You might have some parts there that other people might need. You might be able to sell/swap to get bits for your 69?

Dilbert ·

well if anyone wants any parts they can always ask.

Is the owners manual folder complete? with handbook, accessories book etc..?

As an example I paid $80 on ebay recently for a set of the same books to complete my Beetle,

you would probably get $100 for the front bumper, fuel gauge $40 maybe etc..

There is probably a few hundred dollars worth of bits and pieces there to help fund your own Beetle project.

ian.mezz ·

park it in the back yard and now you have some where to store old vw parts.

uber rat! 😀
