Installing suspension on T3 caravelle

Has anyone removed and installed new shocks and springs on a mid 80's t3 van. Is it a hard job and what is involved. Do you need any special tools for the job.

I have never done this but I have been led to believe that if you remove the shocks while the weight is on the wheels, when you lift the vehicle off the wheels the suspension droops down enough for the springs to be easily removed.
Somebody jump in & correct me if I'm wrong.

Brenden, that is correct for the rear, but for the fronts you will need a spring compressor.
