Use a drift.
My son had the same problem a couple of days ago. I told him what to do. He tried and failed. Typical university engineering student.
I went out. Hit it in the channel with a drift, turned it 180 degrees, hit it again and it was out. Son was mightily pissed off.
colonel mustard ·
Yeah... but he is an engineering student...... point made??? :P
grogy ·
the hammer did it. thanks

grogy ·

vw54 ·

So the CV was stuck in the output housing on the gearbox or stub axle ???
grogy ·
was stuck at output housing on the trans, how do i take of the stubaxle at the springplate end...... is there a circlip somewhere in all that grease
vw54 ·

yes theres a F ing BIG circlip that need to come out after the stub axle is pushed out
theres and inner n outer bearing grease seal n spacer
REMEMBER load in with LOTS of grease when installing
