Wolfsburg is Top of the Ladder

One for the soccer fans.

Volkswagen AG owns the VfL Wolfsburg football team that plays in the German Premier League soccer competition, the Bundesliga. Wolfsburg were formed in 1945 and have mostly been in the second and third division since. They only reached the premier division in the late 1990s. They finished fifth overall last year - best ever result so far.

Last weekend they defeated the mighty Bayern Munich 5-1. Bayern Munich are the defending premiers and have won the Bundesliga 22 times over the years.

This leaves the Wolfsbug 'Wolves' currently leading the competition on 51 points with Hamburg, but leading on goal difference. This is the first time ever that Wolfsburg have been on top of the comp.

There are still 8 more matches to play but Wolfsburg is in with a good chance of winning their first comp...

It must be the new stadium inspiring them to greatness. 5-1 was a slaughter so they should get some confidence from that as well.
