A 2007 study found that the average Australian walks about 900 miles a year.

Another study found that Australians drink an average of 22 gallons of beer a year.

That means, on average, Australians get about 41 miles per gallon.'

Bloody good value that!

Hang on I have to convert that into real measurements:

Walk 1,450 km and drink 100 litres in one year = 6.90 L/100 km.

Yeah pretty good! I think I must be like a Kombi as I consume more 'fuel' than that.

what if you dont drink? huh

amazeer ·

thats OK, because its average. It will have slightly improved because I have cut right back for city 2 surf training. Now I understand peer group pressure.

😂 soft coq

That is an amazing useless piece of information, but funny!😁😁😁

I probably walk the 900 miles per year, but would drink about 220 gallons of beer. So only 4.1 miles per gallon, or 69 l/100km. That's not so good.

I don't even drive My beetle 900 miles a year... lol

so I must get more miles per gallon...

but I don't drink alcohol at all...

but plenty of water etc.... lol

How can it be average if you dont drink at all... the average of 0 is 0. You cant be included if you are 0 (in this case).....

So I get alot of miles... Kilometers on 0.

amazeer ·

errr its elementary. if you add helbuses 900 miles + my miles and phils miles and everybody elses miles then divide that by my 15 gallons plus helbuses 220 gallons plus all the gallons of everyone else, then that will give you an average of 41mpg 🤓

matberry ·

I'll just go with the flow ... but I did like the sound of 'beer group pressure' 🤓

So if I supposedly consume this amount but in reality I don't... Do you all combined owe me that amount??

Phil74Camper ·

It's an average. Some people drink more beer than that (eg. Birchall, me, a few others), some less, some none. It averages out at 100 litres - which really usn't that much - a middy per day. In the '70s Australians would have consumed twice that, on average. The Czechs and the Germans twice that again.

Likewise, walking 1,450 km per year is an average. Some do more, some less.

You could come up with a statistic that says the average Australian family has 2.3 kids. How do you have 0.3 of a kid? It's just a mathematical average of the whole lot.

Gee Phil, thanks for clearing all that up 🤓

I enjoy my Jim Beam - does that mean it's like using AVGAS, does that improve my economy??😵

Phil74Camper ·

More like rocket fuel!

AVGAS is such a pretty blue-green colour, just like Midori - or maybe Absinth.
