compliance plate/ vin no?

Hey guy's, where do I look for the vin no's etc on a bug. The bug i have just bought is supposed to be a 66, but i can't find any tags etc.

The chassis number is on the tunnel under the back seat,post the number on here and someone will tell you the year model cheers shane.

No compliance plates prior to 1970,if you look on the back of the fuel gauge ,speedo and wiper motor you will find the manufacture date of them,this will give you a close indication.Providing of course they haven't all been changed.
