I'm selling my car without a roadworthy in QLD so does that mean i have to take plates off car before i let it go? Can i just get it in writing that I've sold the car on a certain date & a certain time & any speeding tickets etc are responsibility of new owner so they can drive it away?
I'm not sure how it works in QLD any info would be appreciated.
Cheers.

I bought my eh wagon about 6 months ago and the guy left the plates on and he then cancelled the rego the next day.

After the rego is cancelled the plates are supposed to be surrendered to motor reg.

in qld to sell with no rego = no plates.. simple

What I did with one car was I sold it with no reg, but I drove it to his place, pulled the plates off and he dropped me home (with another car) - saved having to stuff around with tilt-trays or trailers etc.

You have to trust them that they are not going to pull something silly.

What's the reason for selling it with no roadworthy? Is it anything major that needs to be fixed up? You may have a little trouble sellin it with no roadworthy unless you're asking for the bottom dollar. But that's just me I guess.

its already sold with no roady. just needed to know if the plates had to be handed in

You can't trust anyone unfortunately, take them off and hand them in yourself

it has been a while since i sold had a car in queensland, but isnt there a form on the back of the rego papers regarding the selling of a vehicle?
