Hi Yall
I think I will get a new car what should I get A new Mk 6 90 tsi trendline or
a New MK 5 GTI
Objective opinions sought

Big difference in price and performance there

The 90 is the base compred to the GTi

If you are after excitement the GTi wins hands down
But you are talking a $10k min premium over a great daily driver (the 90 TSi)

Why dont you go half way and get the 118?? or the diesel?

Not "as much" power but stil brilliant
You will still save $5k and have the current model

I havent seen a mk6 in the flesh, havent sat in a mk5 let alone driven one, but the mk5 gets my vote. I like the brutal boy racer grill.

if you got $35K, buy the Mk6 comfortline with twin charger - thats what we paid for ours and its just pure joy to drive.
Absolute rocket (118 kW) - beautifully styled too !👍

Barloworld Five dock would have to have the worst customer service I have ever encountered
The car was not ready to be picked up as arranged ie car not detailed and paper work not complete and they were not apologetic
so I told them to shove it

Went to Mcgraths Liverpool and bought a black GTI Pirelli instead I suppose it was all meant to happen as I am really happy with the Pirelli and 169Kw

The moral of the story don't go to Barloworld Five Dock

Picked up the Pirelli today! whoa what a sweet ride, I have a huge grin on my face that will last for a long while
cant get over how much technology this car has
best thing is KRudd is paying 30% of it
tax dept is paying 10% of it

I dont mind paying the rest

Pirelli's are cheap version of the Audi S3 which is great value.

My mate bought a yellow one 🙂

Talk to Guy Harding it will cost around $1800 to get it to 230kw!

Then why are they discontinuing them? I have heard that after all the effort the R32's are only minutely quicker
the new R series will be a R20
the same spec motor as the Pirelli 🙅

I would be checking that to make sure its 100% !
MRT claims to do the same, but when you read the fine print the manufacturers wont cover the modification...........and the installers will only warrant their work/items, not other components that may fail.

So if the gearbox blows up due to the power increase.........well then no one wants to fix it ! 😠

The R32 Golf is being discontinued for environmental, cost and efficiency reasons. The VR6 motor will, however, carry on in the Eos, Passat, Transporter/Caravelle, Phaeton and Touareg models for the time being.

The outgoing 2.0-litre Mk5 GTI produces 147 kW, while the higher spec GTI Pirelli produces 169 kW. The outgoing R32 (4WD) has 184 kW from a 3.2-litre six.

The R32 Golf will be replaced by the new 'R20T' model, which will be considerably higher-spec and output than all current Golfs. The R20T will put out 201 kW, more than the existing R32, and do 0-100 in 5 seconds (1.5 seconds quicker than the R32). Top speed will be limited to 250 km/h. It will also be more fuel efficient.

Of course it's a market segment above the GTI, let alone the normal Trendline/Comfortline models, and will be priced accordingly.
