i am keen to rake the beetle with dropped spindles
also keen to add rusty/old racks to go with the rat plan

I have an old roof rack that may suit. It doesn't seem to have the clamps to hold it down to the roof, but you can have it free if you are interested in it.

Phil, your thinking or the raised type of spindle, it's a terminology thing, droped to lower actually have the stub axle in a raised position. Any way, what model car, ie. ball joint or king/link pin front end ???
