1970 Carrera Beetle

Hi, I am new to the forum & Brisbane. I have just bought a 1970 beetle with a Carrera kit. It has the whale tale, torana lights, flared guards, fibreglass bumpers & running boards & bonnet with the narrow slot up top near the windscreen.
Does anyone know where these kits came from? Are there many cars like this around?
I am just looking for some history on it..
Thanks
