hi, how much are disc brake conversion kits for 1960 beetles?

Do you want to stay with the wide 5 wheel pattern or change to the later 4 ?

stay with the wide 5 and only need a price on the kit, not fitting as i will do it myself.

period = mako conversion. someone was trying to sell a set on e.bay for $4000+ or something stupid like that. in my opinion he was dreaming.

Vintage Vee Dubs Wide 5 kit is the best, they use commonly available holden pads
reduce the track width 6mm a side (the others widen the track)
will cost you about $1200 and are locally made

Volks conversion, CSP and Empi don't increase the track and CSP are the only ones with a vented kit but at the exchange rate that'll be the sharp end of $2500plus

All the others are a solid disc. Think the Volks conversion is around $700. Empi is fair bit more. Machine 7 in UK sell the CSP stuff and don't have their own. Not sure if SSP in UK do anything but may. Look on Volkszone.com/VZi for companies in the UK. Pretty muc every UK website will give you the pricing online so no need to phone 🙂

Vintage VW's kit is $1300. they gave me a quote last week 🙂

Cbb in Penrith 02 47 229 313 have a wide 5 disc kit was advertised in the specials in VWMA last issue give them a call as I dont know do much about it.

I bought Empi wide 5 discs from George at CVD for about $180 each and adapted a pair of EL Falcon rear calipers that cost me $25!
