Hi Rod.
If you are in need of good headlights for a 1970 I suggest that you get a pair of Morris Mini Minor headlight buckets, complete with sealed beams, from a wrecker.
The headlights of my 1970 Beetle are worse tha useless, so I recently bought a set of Mini buckets with lights, for $88.
They are an easy fit into a Beetle, with a small bracket needed to be made for a good fit and to adjust them.
If you are going to fit them into a Baja it's still an easy fit and it does a much better job.
You will get a much better light as old 1970 headlights are nearly always in need of re-silvering of the reflectors and they are hopeless. Re-silvering is very expensive.
You may need to fit a external parking light.
All you need is the VW chrome trim ring on a Beetle and the Mini ring on a Baja.
I've done this to every Beetle I've owned in the past few years. The wrecker told me that Mini headlights are becoming rare as every kit car builder uses them, including the AC Shelby Cobra replica guys.
The same headlight bucket fits Morris Minors, MGA, MGB, Mokes, Austins, Wolseleys, Rileys, etc..
Good hunting.

have done a similar thing and used the buckets and lights from a 60 series landcruiser and a beetle trim ring and will fit crystal style headlighs with a headlight upgrade loom using relays to supply better power
