G'day all, odd problem iv been having for a while,
When taking corners, EG, turning into a street, my beetle loses all power, then it comes back.
it almost feels like they petrol stops flowing, or theres no sparks or not enough spark, it almost dies but when u straighten up, it comes back. its actualy quite annoying :S
Hopefuly all these proplems will be gone soon, but for now i need to work with what ive got.
Cheers all

Has it only just started happening as it gets colder?
I'd say it would be your carb icing up because of lack of manifold heat.
You would be accerating into the corner and by the time you straighten up your above the stumble.

Wouldn't ice up also on the straight line? Lack of a manifold heat while cornering only?

could it be a short from your horn causing loss of power to dizzy?

Horn is constantly under + voltage, earth is switched. That means, that short on the horn would blow the fuse usually no. 11, and the ignition coil is usually on fuse no.12

not low in petrol in the tank?
could a faulty carby float be 'g-force' affected?
Joel ·
your models known for having an undersized flux capacitor, chuck a bigger 5.2 giggawatt one, that should sort it.
on a serious note i think it might be time for a fuel system clean out
unless theres a broken wire somewhere that only touches going around corners ignition stumbles happen regardless of whether your going straight or turning
oh and 1500s are 10 fuse 😉, the coil feed shouldnt come from the fused side of the fuse box

Chris I think you might be on the right track there.
A low float level in the carburettor fuel bowl would create this symptom whether it be perforated or the little pin has dislodged.
When he corners the small amount of fuel is swept to one side and the jets suck air instead of fuel.
When he comes out of the corner the fuel level normalises and away she goes again!
Nuzo if you are handy then remove the air cleaner and then unscrew the top section of the carb and remove it. BE CAREFUL not to drop any screws etc down the spout! Then you will see how much fuel is in the bowl. At a guess it ought to be about 3/4 full and if you push the float down it should spring back up. That's my 2cents.

that earth thing rings a bell, one day i turned on my car and smoke came from the other side of the fuse box, nothing was broken, none of the fuses were broken, i pulled them all out and took a look at everything, took the cables out and looked at them, everything looked to be ok, but the problem didnt start when that happend. i think the only damage was to the 2nd light bulb in the speedo, thats the only thing that stopped working.
tbh i think its like a float problem, casue it feels exactly like ur saying. i dont have many tools, so i doubt i could take the top of the carby off.
on a side note, i either have a cracked head, or a bad rear main bearing?
one of the two!
OH THE JOY!!!!
VWCOOL ·
it will be a loose wire *somewhere* that is momentarily killing power to the ignition as the car moves around
NuZo ·
hmm. ill take a look, when its a nice and sunny day.... that way i can actualy see 😀

also check the fuel cut solenoid on the carby, If the wire is loose or shorting it could be the cause
