Oil pressure

skelaaleks ·

I have a 1800 thats has been rebuilt by a backyarder that only has 30PSI oil pressure.

what is the standard oil pressure for a 1800?
Is it common to loose oil pressure around semi fast corners (enough to make the warning light come)

Also what is the 1800 called (xx HP)
or what should the tappet clearance be for a 1800 twin port?

Any help would be good

cheers aleks

Joel ·

need a bit more info than that

30psi at what? idle, full revs, hot. cold? they all play into it

good rule of thumb is when the engines hot 10psi for every 1000rpm

skelaaleks ·

30psi cold at idle doesnt go much higher than that
drops to about 25 at full temp idle the goes up to 30psi when at driving revs

Joel ·

if the engines good and healthy sounds like the sender or guage might be a bit lazy

stone cold u usually see nearly double before the pressure releife valve kicks on

The gauge Is new but I guess I will have I put on he test gauge and see what what psi I am running at

Thanks Joel
