hey guys, thought id post some pics of my 1st and current bug. bought it 4 yrs ago for $600 with alot of cancer. everything on this little guy has been done by me and coming from a holden background, BOY!!! this was an eye opener!! its gone through a few stages and is currently undergoing the conversion to a drag/tidy street car. The look will now more or less stay the same but with a fresh bare metal respray and giving it an even cleaner, race-inspired look. then after that, the focus is going to be set at more power again. Iv had many VW (13 in fact) since buying this one 4 yrs ago, but its the only one which has hung around馃槑 alot of the changes on this little guy have occurred under it, but there are just to many pics to post up, so i just posted these as a rough summary of its life with me.馃

i might make a collage of them all, alot of them were wrecks that were rusted out or smashed, so they were for parts and others were just a bargain i couldnt pass up, then they turned into q liability i couldnt keep hahaha馃槀馃槀

Mate,that is awsome! One of the best beetles ive seen for a while.
I'm not usually a fan of the 'Herbie thing', yet it actually suited that car as it was slammed.
And only my personal opinion,it looks sweet with the stock rims.

hahahaha!!! good work pagie, waldron just pissed himself laughing..... he said "hook, line and sinker!" 馃お it wasnt an accident i took the picture of my engine bay on that angle 馃槀 ill post up a few pics of his car in a few days, these pics are actually taken at my and mikes workshop, we just got a unit 3 weeks ago RAW Auto Werks is the name... 馃榿 kristen is focusing on customer work at the moment and also a little work on shanes buggy and darrens car. (stokers old car) stokers new car is well under way and i dont know if i can get any pics, ill have to ask him next time im there if he wants to share any details yet 馃

Hey Al, yeah still running em, they're brilliant.... originally i was going to cut down the grease cap and reweld it but when i tried i noticed that there is not enough room if you're running the billet locking axle nuts... so i came up with another theory which worked, i had a mate make me up a set of alloy spacer plates, since the disc kit narrows the track 6mm, when i spaced it 6mm to be able to fit the caps it basically returned the track to standard, again not an issue anyway as i have a 2 inch narrow beam.... if you need some plates, let me know and i can organize them for you.

On Rods , I cut some threads off and you cut or grind the slip in part of grease cap so it goes further in and flaten cap end too . No spacers needed either end of car .

Yeah Pete, I did that when I had drums on the front but with the VVDS discs the thick washer used pushes the aluminium clamping bolt out further than the rim lip itself meaning that even if you shave threads/skim the clamp it still won't fit.
Polak, those spacers do look pretty trick, can you PM me what they'd be worth to have a pair made up?

yeah pete, same, there is completely no room to do that... been there and melted my brain trying to get it, but no go... spacers are the go.... yeah Al ill try get u a price tomorrow.... get u 4 made that way u can mix n match.... plus depending on ur mag bolts, you may need to get the longer ones.... i needed 2 3mm spacers per side as thickest mattie can cut is 5mm and i needed 6mm total. its all lazer cut and he has the program all ready to go.

Can you post up a pic please of disc axle end , Al if washer is a problem ,a good start would be replace it with a thinner one and cut down alloy axle lock too.

yeah its a custom one as i couldnt find anything that was what i wanted, Brad at Westside mufflers made it up as per my specs.... really happy how it came out, he did a brilliant job.
I might go try that with my drag bug this weekend with the stinger on. I'll get Ian to take a video.

Hello Mr Colonel, the engine is a 1776, brand new vw case, 010 grind vw crank and rods, custom chromoly pushrods, cb lifters, cb lash caps, 1.25 vw ratio rockers, heavy duty springs, retainers and collets, big stud kit with all nylocks, brand new manley flat top pistons and barrels, brand new 1600 heads (shaved 40 thou), twin 48 idf webbers, engle 110 cam and straight cut timing gears.... all that i can rememeber at the present moment. but i have already bought a cb billet chromoly counterweight crank, cb oval port heads with port-matched manifolds and a pair of pauter 1.4 roller rockers.... rockers and heads should hopefully be on before warwick..... see how we go, better pull my finger out... 馃お

Im building this car with only my own taste in mind and its great to hear that others like it as well!!!!! still got alot to go though, body is still rough but i dont want to do anything with it until the drive line is completely finished.
