Im at the stage of putting my wipers on my Karmann Ghia which i bought in pieces. My nana always said that these cars were made for left hand drivers where the wipers were concerned.
Question....Can you make your dub more wiper friendly by moving the holes over for the wipers to fit into and some how fudge the arms that drive the wipers to suit more of a right hand side driver? basically so the wipers clear more water off the drivers side of the car.
Does any one know what im talking about? 馃槀

i wouldnt start drilling extra holes in a ghia if i were you, the wipers work good enough unless it pours down, ghia wiper motors are different to beetle too so dont turf the ghia one, hard to find.

you can and could do that reverse the main wiper motor output arm 180 deg
so they park opposite side then remake the wiper arms

lol don't worry Steve....i was more so thinking out loud and wanted to see if others had done anything in the past to fix the problem. Its unpainted atm so was just curious if i should ask the question before proceeding any further.
Thanks vw54...sounds interesting. Ill give it some thought and maybe a dry run (outside the car) when i figure how the wipers actually goes together....like my car it came in pieces 馃憥
Besides its a Ghia!! i doubt ill ever drive it in the rain....its had enough rust

My 68 made in Germany beetle has the same thing -wipers designed for LHD beetles...
the wipers should park on the drivers side...
like the 63> aussie made beetles...
My Son did some experimentation with the wiper connecting bars under the bonnet a few years ago...
I can't remember what he was doing it for????
maybe a RH park assembly on a LH park beetle..??
but to change the complete wiper assembly so it parks on the opposite side and wipes all the windscreen in front of the driver.... would be a major job...
You would need another GHIA with the correct wipers so You could copy or modify Yours...
The "L" or 1303S Superbeetle with curved windscreens had the correct wipers for RHD as there were two black grommets where the original LHD wipers went...
they may give you some indication of how hard it is...
or how easy it is....
remember nothing is impossible.... just a darn sight harder

PS: Best I've seen is that Large SINGLE Mercedes Benz wiper arm that goes from one edge to the opposite edge..
actually cleaning the complete windscreen....

im back to driving a flat screen bug at the moment for the first time in years, id forgotten how truely shitfull the wipers are
but yes the phatchick wipers are all LHD drive design
im guessing its the same with KGs but with bugs it doesnt matter whether car was LHD or RHD the wipers are always the same, only exception being Lbugs as Lee said and thats only cos of the glovebox
its a piece of piss to change the park position
i did it back in the day during my boy racer phase when i had a single wiper and made it park staight up vertically like a V8 supercar 馃檮
just a matter of repositioning the crank arm on the motor

Remember that when you are wiring the wipers in, you need to wire them in through the park circuit, or they won't park.
When I was wiring the modified Barina wipers into the SR, that had me stumped for a while, until I got a bright idea and wired them in through the park circuit, then, Hey! Presto!

Hmmm....i think i might just leave it for now lol. I do have a spare parts Karmann Lee but if its going to be a major drama think ill tackle more important issues atm. Glad to see it wasn't just my Nan and myself who had issues with it though 馃檪
