check the CIP1 or EMPI websites..
there are oil filter adaptors that bolt over the oil pump..
and the filter is horizontal pointing to the Left...

If You have an extractor exhaust system, You usually have to use hoses to take the oil to the oil filter and return...

there are lots of different extractor systems about though

best of luck

😂

need abit more info pete,

those maxi filter pumps will clear most aftermarket 4into1 headers
the one that it definatly wont are those mexi style OEM headers or GT style

whilst theyre better than nothing theyre not ideal as they restrict oil flow abit
beter option if its a stock-ish motor is leave it stock and just change oil nice and regularly

mild and up motors are better off full flowed
but thats a tear down job

ive done it with the engine together, its doable but much easier when torn down

Thanks to all for your information and help, I will run with the stock oil filter (as Joel's advice) She is just a stock 1500, I driver her to and from work 60km return. About headers the GT or the EURO exhaust type. once again thanks to all for the start of my VW education.
