Ebay rant....Cheeky git

I've been watching a few amps and other car audio bits on Ebay lately...trying to make a decent system on a budget of almost nothing!!

Anyway, a 4 channel Kenwood amp was stuck at 99c all week. The listing said that pick up was preffered but postage could be arranged if necessary. I emailed the guy to check that the postage cost was going to be "the amount it cost to post" and not some over-inflated price that hikes the price up.
He mailed back saying that he'll get it weighed and let me know.
Anyway, i didn't hear anything back but thought it safe to bid as he'd agreed that the postage was going to be sensible.
The auction was in my favour as it was ending at 8:10am, probably a time when most people are in cars on their way to work or whatever, but as a house hubby i was around to bid.
The auction ended at $41 which i was stoked about! I emailed straight away asking for the total including shipping.....heard nothing. After 4 days he mails saying he's been busy (fair enough) and that he will find out today (weds).
I just got home to find a message from Ebay to ask "if i agree to cancel the sale"....ummm....mainly NO!

He's mentioned that he really wanted it picked up....but the listing 100% says he'd post if necessary.

Not sure what to do now 馃檨

I know it's a big ask....but is there anyone near Bellbird Park QLD (near Ipswich) who'd be prepared to collect it for me / post if i paypal / bank transfer the total amount to you including the postage cost? You'd make a man v happy!

I'm presuming he didn't get the amount he was looking for and is trying to wriggle out of it. Pisses me off. Why don't you start the auction at the price you'd accept for it?

Big bloody GRRRRRRR!

make a copy of the ebay ad for your records so u can say he would post.

did u save copies of your correspondance? as this will help also.

inform him that you bid on the item under then knowledge that it would be posted and does he understand that an ebay auction is a legally binding thing.

if he refuses to post it you then report the ad to ebay using your evidence.

Thanks Nicko....will do that.
Not sure that Ebay will care though 馃檨

Fleabay sellers are usually good but at present we have an issue with a Melbourne seller of a Kitchenaid Coffee Machine. Posting was a "Home only use for 6 months" but on winning the thing and waiting a week for delivery, it shows signs of heavy commercial use. Bits missing, saturated with water in the electrics which means it doesn't work and generally filthy from extended storage with friendly cockroaches etc. Now in a showdown on getting them to take it back and refund the money. It'll be worth a trip to Melbourne in person to sort it out. Petrol and motel will be under the $650 we paid for it!! Can't wait for the negative feedback on them once we have the loot in our hands. 馃憤

Its a BIG Gamble on ebay to get the money You want...
and its cheaper to start at 99c... much more expensive to start at $100...
but many people do get lucky and sell things for hundreds of dollars... even though they start at 99 cents...

I did buy a Lawn Mower where the seller said he would accept Paypal.... but He didn't even know what it was..
anyway it wasn't a problem... as I had to pick the mower up anyway...
I have found 98% of ebayers great ...
especially Aussies... some of the Non Aussies can be difficult at times... [and some aussies]

but I've met some very nice people thru ebay...

You have to check on the postage all the time...

I was just looking at a part for 99 cents postage free...
now thats just plain silly.... lol..
I would say He hit the wrong key...???

Many people still charge $10 or more for Postage AND packing.... thats a fact of life... especially if they sell the goods for a few dollars...

PS: ebay do have a complaints section...

Bad Luck Dallas...
I bought an oven /cooktop which had been used for a couple of years... but it hadn't been cleaned in that time either.. took weeks to get it new looking again...
she had commented that she hadn't cleaned it after the last time she used it....

Car cd players etc...
When I was looking for a CD player for My beetle, I looked at heaps of stereo systems that had been taken out of cars... some new... but when asked.. the sellers didn't have the access code... but people were bidding like mad on these... I wonder what they did once they bought it.?
getting those numbers isn't easy... as I found out when I changed batteries in My Lancer...

also no wiring diagrams etc... or plugs or leads...??

I did however buy a sharp DVD/video unit which is still in the cupboard... no remote came with it... or instructions
and I've never been able to get it to do anything..
the seller is no longer a registered ebayer... ??

I'm buying things on ebay at present...

cheers

there are a lot of shops on the web also...
with many specials...

topbuy.com.au
crazysales.com.au
getprice.com.au

and check out the ebay shops too...

I hope there is something I can't buy on the web, otherwise will I ever go to Harvey Norman again????

I found a website called the Big Brown Box...
they sell Washing Machines [freight free]
with 2 years warranty dryers- heaps of other stuff..
so Hardly Normal will be missing out....
$750 instead of $999 plus $100 cashback...
from Fisher & paykel... front loader....

And also just quickly remember use paypal, their buyer protection scheme is heavily buyer based. So if its not what was listed on the ebay auction site you can contact paypal and get your money back etc. Also for sellers this is why you should send everything registered, because people can dispute that the item never arrived even when your sure it did, and unless you have proof of sending the buyer gets his money back.

yep use Pay Pal when purchasing and send via registered

ebay isn't that bad if ur cautious!

vw specialist shops on there are pretty good.. particularly mofoco. (USA)
Half the time its a waiting game though for the right part to come available.

I scored a 2 DIN brand new mp3, mp4 dvd tv radio entertainment system with 7 inch screen, remote rada rada for $270, that included shippin! and 12 month warranty. (Hong kong)

Even scored a brand new performance racing aluminium radiator for $120 ($50 postage) and was a complete OEM upgrade. IT was flippin cheaper than a factory replacement and is going strong! (shanghia)

4gb mp4/mp3 player, for $27 BRAND NEW! with free postage... (Hong kong)

i could go on forever...., australia is an expensive country.
but u just gotta be street wise i guess...
However, this kenwood tart sounded unavoidable...
Plenty cheap amps do come up though, i scored a 400Watt rms clarion for $60... was stoked. lasted only a couple months before it caught on fire in the back of the car. that was fun! we all had a laugh... what else could u do lol.

keep watchin ebay, another will pop up.

Your lucky if you got the item, cause I can tell you now Ebay dont give a f@ck. The policies are a load of shit and unless you actually obtain 3rd party legal action which you wouldnt do for a car amp, then expect a pleasant automated response from Ebay as their resolution to the matter. Report the guy as much as you like, they wont black flag him at all and even if they do it does not appear as a warning for any new bidders on his next selling item. Its about as pathetic as you can no longer leave a honest answer if the guy is a tool and mucked you about, which now that I remember that was useless as the buyer/bidder would then just neg comment you and then your rating is stuffed unless you mutually agree to have it removed........................does it sound as though I have been dicked around by Ebay before. I hate Ebay almost as much as I hate Bunnings, dont start me on Bunnings! 馃槵
