By buggy has a beam front end (what else would it have 馃お) the car has been droped on its guts but I need to find out how much wheel travel I have left , bugger all if the ride quality is any indication, as I want to fit some indicators directly over the wheels and the globe holder will hang down through the guard, I don't want to go drilling holes to take the fitting if the wheels are going to rip the globe holder apart when the wheel reaches the top of its travel. Whats the best way to find out where the top of the travel is and therefore how much clearance I will have between the tyre and the guard?
Thanks

just jack up your front suspension to full jounce and see how much clearance you have. do you run bump stops?

What I have done so far is to measure between the tyre and the guard when resting on the ground, then I jacked the car up under one front shock as far as I could (the other front wheel was almost off the ground), I then measured the difference over the wheel, but I suspect that the suspension may travel a little further under road / driving conditions.

No bump stops Nicko, seems I was out there doing what you suggested while you where suggesting it.馃榿

what u need to do is chain the beam to the jack somehow so you arent just jacking the car up but compressing the suspension only. make sense?
be carefull not running stops, on a street car you might get away with it. but if u bottom out your shocks you will get a surprise.
