Mudgeeraba show ground is on the corner of Tallai road and Mudgeeraba road Mudgeeraba. You access the show ground from the Mudgeeraba rd side.
You take exit 77 off the pacific motorway and from the North go over the highway and turn left (this is Mudgeeraba road) From the South take the same exit and turn left into Mudgeeraba road.😎

ALL WELCOME
KOMBI CLUB CHRISTMAS PARTY 2009- QLD/NTH NSW
In conjunction with the 'Run to the Sun' event to be held on Sunday 29th November at Mudgeeraba Showground (Mudgeeraba Rd, Mudgeeraba on the Gold Coast) Kombi Club will be holding it's Christmas party at the same location on Saturday 28th.
Camping has been approved but as there are limited facilities, 1 ladies & 1 mens showers only (more loos) and some power (not 15amp) numbers of vehicles are limited so I do need to know who is planning on staying over please.
There is a fantastic undercover area, hall and kitchen for our evening get together celebrations. Please bring own BBQ's or electric frypan etc for cooking.
As in previous years the communal gathering for dinner is planned, BYO meal and some pre dinner nibbles to share.
Again we ask that every adult in attendance for the evening bring a 'Secret Santa' present up to the value of $10 and please supply presents, also up to the value of $10, for each of your children with their name clearly marked on them so they can receive what you have chosen for them.
Hopefully we will have many of our talented KC musicians / entertainers present to once again make for a great evening.
Camping is from 2pm on and the charge for the entire weekend, including Sunday's 'Run to the Sun' entry fee, is only $25 per vehicle.
OK as if lower case can't suffice ffs
anyways a question..
I was wondering if where does all the money go?
I know when I go on dubs by the pub run or action day
local registered clubs collect the cash n proceeds go to the club for insurance n for charities etc
but where is k c regoed n where does profits etc goto
any light here would great in my dim mind
thanks yeah

good question H. is this kombi club a proper incorparated club? i recently saw a couple of kombis up on the tweed with the kombi paradise and kombi club stickers on them but i didnt think this club was a real club. do the organisers have proper insurance for the event? i always enjoyed the gold coast show. i was able to get there the last couple of years and it was a nice setting.

To answer your questions.
The money goes back into the show next year, making it bigger and better.
Klubfest 09 cost $6933 to lay on, gate takings were $7116. Making a grand profit of $183.00
Would you lay out that much in the hope that it does not rain and be a washout
If you attended our last three shows you would have noticed the effort and time that the committee put in, to make Klubfest one of the best events in the country.
I hope this has enlightened you

Yes the show is fully insured, a necessity when holding an event on Counciil grounds
You will enjoy the new 'Run to the Sun'

Hello everyone, I have cleaned up this thread and deleted the posts which were basically going to deteriorate further until the entire thread was suspended.
Feel free to PM me if you are upset/offended about your posts being deleted, but also feel free to continue your discussions via PM or email.....or better yet on the phone or in person to resolve the disagreements etc.
Lets keep the thread related to the actual show.
cheers

the candle flickers
many thanks for the reply.. of sorts yeah
basically it doesn't answer the two points i outlined (reread above) but i appreciate the effort
an attempt at an accountants report means sfa really
the questions were not of a personal nature as to reflect the response it entails it was of... not..
i am disappointed really at the personalising of this issue but most will rise above that here..
moving forward, as to where i pointed out in the example, now with extrapolation, that said clubs do take on such responsibilities where a figure and maybe any excess profit and interest is allocated to further events and to a nominated charity(s) for the event entailed.. this to me is unknown, as is the state registered status with elected reps voted annually etc - the basic questions not answered
these are not hard questions and therefore should not receive hard answers - simple really
in retrospect i am a little miffed as to the response received as to the denigrating nature of wanting to stifle a dedicated committee, camaraderie and all the family fun that will ensue from the event was throughly not my intention
moreover, i wish a great day out for all that attend and that many more events where like minded individuals can enjoy and share a common good may be achieved
thanks pauly 🙂

H, it wasn't an attempt at an Accountants report, all paperwork is available for anyone to view and has been submitted to the Accountant
Klubfest has, for the past 2 years supported Guide Dogs for the Blind, for which they were very gratefull.
I am sorry if that is not good enough for you?
Klubfest was reserected 3 years ago, ater falling numbers and the lack of facilities, that is when we teamed up with KlubVW, to change the format of VW shows
The Gold Coast Show, quite simply, was not going ahead, I contacted the organisers first and foremost, so as not to tread on anyones toes. They were unable to team up with us
You will find that most large shows, Worldwide, are organised by Business, Private Individuals and Event Promoters. This has proved to be a success, encouraging re-investment. Therfore more attractions, better facilities, increased numbers ect ect. keeping the Volkswagen scene alive and thriving
I realised a long time ago, that you can't please everyone, all the time, nor will I attempt to. There will always be a critic, no matter what you do, or what effort one puts in. Most people will come to the show and enjoy a great family day out with fellow VW lovers

Can't wait...!! I'll be there early to catch me some swap meet bargins.. This is a great venue too, hope there is a massive turn out.

fantastic, some light and transparency is starting to prevail
firstly who are you klubfest pls?? im paul and i do not know who you are so pls let me know as i can acknowledge on here please..
moreover, it is great that we have learned that this event is run basically by business not a registered car club usually, unless otherwise stated , many thanks for that and that i have no problem with
it saddens me to be somewhat villified for somehow not supporting charities like guide dogs for the blind, however the truth that is stated on page one of the rttsun thread in the kc events section is quote "Run To the Sun will not have an official show charity. However there will be fundraising on the day for a number of worthy causes
Guide Dogs - Queensland, will have a stall selling raffle tickets and have some great raffle prizes
Hands across the water"
unfort there is 'no official charity' however
its great that 'on the day' there will be funds raised if peeps bring cash for these worthwhile causes.. a fundamental difference
these differences however small are now learned and thank you for pointing this out in a round abouts fashion, i also have no problem with this aspect
this should not lessen the experience sought by fellow vw people but keep everyone informed as to who what when where questions are asked answers are freely given
again..
i state that to a dedicated committee of volunteers and business alike , camaraderie and all the family fun that will ensue, i wish a great day out for all that attend and donate to the worthwhile causes and that many more events where like minded individuals can enjoy and share a common good may be achieved

H, phew, thankfully you have no problem and the show can go ahead.
The RTTS and Klufest in June are sponsored and supported by business's but run by a committee of volunteers, with the support of club members
If you read the above again, it states that Klubfest 08 & 09 supported Guide Dogs for The Blind for which they were very happy. Because of the short time we had we could not have an official charity at RTTS this year. Like already stated, RTTS was organised when it was clear there was no Gold Coast Show
The Rural Fire Brigade will also be there with thier BBQ, hopefully displaying thier Fire & Rescue techniques as well as thier culinary skills

This should be a great day...
Any VW show is much welcomed no matter what organisation puts it on...& to whoever puts them on, I am there......
Cos as we all know if "someone" doesn't put them on, we don't have them... 🙁
Looking forward to it & catching up with everyone...

thanks for the reply above kf..
I find it disbeleiving that the primary school ethos of frankly silliness we are reading above
honestly glad we can all move on and have the apparently real hard questions answered even with the derision and contempt displayed quite unessessary and thus speaks volumes really
so the final question still unanswered is who is klubfest please, enlighten us all
many would like to know yeah
looking forward to learn who the the real klubfest is..
judy I'm with you along with many others who enjoy these turnouts as long as simple questions can be answered with transparency, too easy
bring on the summer of vw shows 🙂

As posted before Paul, not sure what the issue is with hiding behind a username? If things are so cool and legit, introduce yourself and drum up some more business to this show. More the merrier right?
John (3amigos), enough with the personal attacks on people. I've seen you do it here and on kombi club. If there are personal issues resolve them through a PM or face to face when you see them. It seems all to easy to hide behind a keyboard sometimes and use 'sarcastic' emoticons, which you seem to be very good for.

If Klubfest isn't Roy from The Bus Stop and Kombi Club creator, then why does Klubfest have Roys details and mobile number attached to past posts? You really make it sound sinister, and something that didn't seem suss before really does now? Perhaps Kombi's in Paradise is back in actions under an alias!!!!
What's with putting up the Facebook link to Kombi Club all the time? This isn't a brainwashing session, people just want answers to simple questions that are being avoided for one reason or another. Didn't think there was anything to hide?

Hi there my namne is Lorraine Keen and I am a moderator on Kombi Club, I live at Nimbin, own 3 fully restored kombis and have 3 'garden ornaments' I love my VW's and I love the VW community.
I am also one of the organisers of Run to the Sun. I do not know who 'Klubfest' is I am assuming it is Roy and will ask him when we meet tomorrow. Klubfest and Run to the Sun is being backed financialy by Roy at the Bus Stop.........I certainly don't have the money to do so but I am very happy to help as are the other members of the team Doug Ringman, Michelle Carson, Craig Smith and Alec Brown. Yes we are all KC members and also members of other VW clubs.
Johnnie of Kombi in Paradise fame has NOTHING to do with Run to the Sun.
Please give us a fair go, come along kick back and enjoy the company of like minded VW lovers.
These shows are not created to make money but simply allow us all to have somewhere to gather and show off our VW's, have fun and meet up with friends.
I invite you all to come along talk to us if you have any issues and let us know what we can do to make it better next time.
h. please make yourself known to me on the day and I will try and answer all your questions.
Thank you

Thank you
Lorraine

OMG Lorraine, about bloody time you joined up here! Can't believe you weren't already signed up! Paul, Lorraine has some awesome kombi's and lives in one of the best parts of the world!
Thank you for answering the questions i couldn't. Like i said, i assumed Klubfest would be Roy from previous posts, John (3 amigos) didn't need to make this into something it wasn't, and start getting narky.
This should turn out to be a good get together (not so much a show). Sounds like it's going to be bloody hot, so aircooled dubs if you're travelling, take it easy.👍

(please give us a fair go).hi lorraine it is lisa,i have met you a couple of times with my hubby peter ,talking about a fair go is something the kc has not given my pete, welcome to the forum,
ruby6689 ·
hey miss vdub, you go sister, now that you mentioned kombis in paradise have you checked out who 3 amigos is,he seems to have the same name as jonnie who was running the paradise thing ,and i do love how the kc had nothing to do with kip went it went bust, just a thought, who is 3 amigos? [/quote]
To put the record straight, 3amigos name is John, he lives on the Gold Coast which is where KIP was but he is definitely NOT Johnnie from KIP. Johnnie used the forum name of 1kombilover not 3amigos.
I have met KIP Johnnie on several occassions at VW events and I also know John 3amigos very well.

1. Thank you, it was a great show
2. I asked and can confirm Roy IS klubfest
Now the important points have been answered I would like to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who braved the extreme heat to support our first Run to the Sun.
Like all 1st there is probably some things that could have been done better and we welcome any suggestions you may have to improve the event if it is to be held again next year. Please pm your suggestion or give me a call 0402655242, and I will pass them on.
Apart from suffering a bit of heat stroke I had a fab weekend and I hope everyone else enjoyed themselves as well. So many VW's so many good people. Thank you for sharing your weekend with us.

MISS VDUB ·
Nice work, the heat would have been an absolute killer especially for those who had too many to drink the night before 👍
Run to the Sun 09
This weekend took us all by surprise, there were six 'committee' members and a whole bunch of helpers, trying to be prepared for anything the weekend brought.
The gates officialliy opened at 8.30am, but by 8.25 the site was filling up fast.
Swappers and Tradies filled not one line but three and more, providing a good choice
The liines of display cars filled up with Kombis being the highest turnout, followed by Beetles and buggies were also up in numbers, compared to other shows
Type 3, KG and 'thing' numbers were down, which was quite dissappointing. Next year maybe we could make it very clear that RTTS is a VW event for all models
The site soon filled to capacity, with more than 450 vehicles, an unbelievable achievement
We were let down by the main food vendor, at the last minute. So when the Rural Fire Brigade set up there BBQ, ther was a queue 10 deep and a tasty hot dog they did too, or I was too hungry to care anyway
The Coffee Van, Crepe maker and Ice Cream Van, all stepped in at the last minute and for that I am sure everyone was grateful. They tell me they had a great day and will be back next time
Bouncing Castle and the face painter proved popular as always with the kids
The Kombi Kram was held again, the heat must have put off the adults, but the kids didnt have to be asked twice, they soon piled into my lowlight. I am unsure of the numbers, someone must have counted them all
Window fitting display went well, showing hw easy it is to fit new sliding windows
I now have a beautiful kombi on my drive, lovingly hand painted in water based paints by the kids in attendance, I hope someone took a few photos. Its evidence that another generation of VW lovers are on the way. There was also a beetle for painting, supplied by VolksMod, that after receiving a bit of a bashing on Saturday looked just as pretty by Sunday. All this under the supervision of 'Cornish', thanks mate you are a legend.
While we (The Bus Stop) supplied the Remote Controlled Samba and Custom Beetle, other give aways were donated by Volksmod, Gold Coast VeeDub, Australia Zoo and Just Cars Magazine
There is always no shortage of volunteers, so I would like to say a great big thankyou to the following
Alec of Klub VW for providing the Insurance
Craig Smith master the PA and did a great job, although next time we will plan on having his voice spread even further
Doug and another Craig were directing traffic in as best as they could but with space running out, it was a relentless task
Neil and Dave did a great job on the gate
Nathan who worked night shifts over the weekend, gave up his days to help out with a bit of clowning around
Michelle , Adrien, Lorraine, Andy ect ect
Thanks to the swappers and tradies
Gold Coast Bulletin for giving the show a few free plugs
The venue was excellant and a big thanks to the Mudgeeraba Show Society for letting us use the site
But most of all a great big Thanks to everyone that braved the heat and attended, what was, the first Run to the Sun held at Mudgeeraba. Without you all, the show scene would not continue.
You all deserve a pat on the back
Sorry if I have forgotten someone, thanks to you all
We have received some great feedback, thanks for sparing the time to email or call

Hi all, I have just recently returned to the site after an absence of some years (and had to re-register with a different name because my feeble brain could not remember previous details, ah well...). Am bug-less at the moment but I attended the run (with some trepidation given all the weird preamble on here). It was fantastic. So great to see the spirit is still out there. I have once again drunk the kool-aid! And now I'm on the prowl for a project (my wife hates this shit, she's convinced I'm on drugs, well, hmmmm).
cheers all.

Sorry about delayed response on a decaying topic, but H aka Mr Bungle illegal alien has inspired me a new slogan - ie DUB IS A DRUG. If I could work out the technical details, I would use that somehow as one of the smart ass little sayings under my posts! Hey H, your posts were the ones giving me cause for thought about the run (see - there is relevance). Sort of ironic really that you were the one who actually responded to my comments, so "cheers for beers mate". Cue insane laughter...

Due to popular demand
Run to the Sun will return in November 2010.
Exact weekend to be announced but same venue
Bigger and better, next year we will be aiming at 1000 vehicles, which will probably make RTTS the biggest VW show in the Southern Hemisphere
Pencil it into your new diaries as one not to be missed
Clubs from all over Australia are invited,
Vehicles from the Rare to the outrageous
