This is what happens when you drive like a dickhead.
Popped a crest on a dirt road at about 75km/h when it landed things went pear-shaped and she swerved to the right up the embankment into the trees then rolled onto her left side and ended up on it's roof. Myself and the passenger are both completely fine. Unfortunately the car needs a bit of work.
Drove this car 1000km down to Warwick and back last week and this is how I repay it for being so reliable, I'm such an idiot. 馃檨

I have one down in Gladstone that i can get u cheap, a 54 pan with a 61 body with the baja kit(bugeyed) peco wheels, was mine 6/7 years ago and its gone down hill since i last owned it. Mate picked it up and will sell it for cheap as he has no time, there is another one thats totaly complete that he wants about 3 grand for if thats of intrest to. drop me a line on 0413 135518 and i'll let u know more details

As for the baja thing, i'm with Mr Mustard on that one...but that's only because i've never really "got" the whole baja thing. The shape of a bog standard bug is so curvy...sexy... and elegant...a thing of beauty!!...so why anybody would think it's that bad to want to change it i will never understand!? At least we still share the same engine i guess? lol

Even with a roll bar the body would have been totalled no doubt. would have been pretty scary mate, i feel for ya. Find a clean body馃憤 , otherwise it'll take ya three years to restore a well used, salt water subjected, rusted, dinted and scratched baja

Picked it up yesterday thanks to a new friend in Gladstone, thanks a heap Steff!!
I'm yet to clarify the year, mid 60's, K&L front with swingaxle rear, came with the engine that's in it and a spare, a spare set of wheels. Has the complete Baja kit on the backseat, and all the parts are in a box on the front seat.
Basically a complete car, the only thing that is missing is the carby off the engine that's in it, but I have spares.
Dad wants it for himself!

Surprising how little damage was done for what sounded much worse. Hope the rebuild goes well tho personally it'd be good if you chopped up a less than pristine bug. good bugs are becoming hard to find these days so chopping a less than perfect one sounds more agreeable 馃檪

You generally have to get it approved by the transprt department. I'm in Queensland, the one that I crashed had approval papers that I kept in the glovebox, and the white one that I just bought has a blue MOD plate under the bonnet.

I've spent a few hours every afternoon this week pulling bits off the car, got the body off last night. Thought I would throw up a few more pictures of the damage.
First picture shows me holding the horn next to the neat little hole it punched through the metal of the spare wheel well. I acctually fould the horn sitting on top of the brake master cylinder.
Second picture is looking into the luggage area from the drivers side, you can see that the passengers side bonnet hinge was completely crushed and the body buckled and pushed the fuel tank up.
Third picture of shows the firewall pushed forward a few inchs, it made undoing the top engine bolts really easy.

First picture shows that the long tie rod might need replacing 馃槀
Second picture shows why clutch access holes should be welded back up or suitible braced and strengthened. A previous owner has put the hole in there then hammered the flap back shut. You can see the tear in the metal from one corner, the entire tunnel has bent to the left at this point, rendering the floorpan pretty much usless.
