Stoopid numberplates

https://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/threads/79585/stoopid-numberplates

Bizarre ·

OK - i will start off with the fact i have the poops

But besides that i cant beieve what people pay and get in numberplates

Saw one today that said "THANXS"

FOR WHAT???
Cause some one bought you a car??

I guess it is better than the one i saw years ago down Nowra way
A petite young mum had a new car that said "TA DAD"

Should have said " I AM A SPOILT TWAT"

Whatever - think i will go down to the local child care centre and slap some one

Rant over

Pauld ·

iv got vdubxtc on my beetle

Bizarre ·

That has a point

I can accept that
A "buisness lady" a friend of mine knew had "FIGJAM" - again, advertising

It is the "MARK" or "STEVE" that i just dont get
Have these people forgotten their names??

And as stated the spoilt brat plates just get me

djnee ·

Must admit i'm not into personalised number plates at all. Some are ok, but generally most of them are very gaelic. Quite why anyone would want everyone to know their name and what they drive is beyond me. Exactly who cares!?

With that said, at least it's better here in Aus than in the UK as the cost seems quite reasonable. Some examples of UK ones include:

M444TFF (meant to say MATT F)

J10DIE (meant to say JODY)

Even worse in the UK are people using the screw that holds the plate on to make part of a letter (an example is someone painting the number plate screw black and putting it in the middle of the letter C to make it look like an E)

All of the above are very

DaveCarter ·

I have seen some pretty funny ones:
RU16QT (are you 16 cutie?)
XE55VE (excessive and it is on my mates liberty that competes in dB drags)
HAV32C (have to see and it is on my mates car)
SXYRXY (sexy rexy on a WRX around the corner from where a live)

the list goes on for so long. Sydney is full of that stuff lol

colonel mustard ·

DaveCarter wrote:SXYRXY (sexy rexy on a WRX around the corner from where a live)
that is so gay.

only in sydney.

68AutoBug ·

Many of those people have an odd number plate because they cannot remember things like ABC 45J etc... lol IMHO..

its just a custom thing....

I know many people have their initials etc...

and its a personal thing... that I haven;t gotten into...

it doesn't make any difference to Me...

Like in Scone We See DUBAI 1 DUBAI 2 DUBAI 3 etc..
from Emirates park - {United Arab Emirates]

also 189, 85 , 2 & 3 numbers which are worth heaps for the plates.

Me; I take what they give Me.... lol

Camo ·

Sorry, but I have had my KC-**** number plates for 21 years that my parents bought for my 21st. But I too also think that some of them are wankers. eg IM2SEXC. And I can tell you, she wasn't 🙅

I did see about 15-20 years ago on a big 4 wheel drive that I was behind - TIVOOM. I thought, WTF does that mean? When I got past him and looked back in my rear view mirror, I worked it out. Say it backwards.

That my 2c worth, Kev

donn ·

My number plates on the bugy are BUG33Y, they were on it when I bought it and I like em, I new a fella in Newie who had those FIGJAM number plates about 10 years back, he was a sales person for a well known home builder, had them on a Fairmont last time I saw him, I thought they were kinda good but can imagine them upsetting some of the puritans and maybe, just maybe, loosing him a sale, yeah some are kinda good others just "why?"

Joel ·

you know the minute your in qld, every 2nd car has a wanker number plate

i got a good laugh when the chaser put on tv exactly what we were all thinking

theres like a 10 page thread on stoopid plates on boostcruising
its even funnier when the plate doesnt match the car like so:

bajachris88 ·

You got a link to the boost cruisin thread?

I'm mega keen to check out :P

colonel mustard ·

^^^ same. hhahaahahahaahha

Joel ·

i had a quick look its buried back a few months somewhere

Dirtbag ·

I agree, there are acceptable personalised plates and then there are the stupid wanker number plates. Such as sxyrxy, totally agree with you colonel on that one.
Here's a couple of funny ones from overseas.

HotRodMatt ·

The only wanker plate I thought was funny was a girl I knew. Who ended up having to change them cause the car was used for work.

SINEP.

Another bloke I knew long ago had GT327 plates on an MGtc, back about late 60's early 70's had heaps of offers for em but wouldn't sell, got me why as they meant nothing on an MG.

eraser ·

i have vw 1968, but thats because in SA you pay once off and its yours forever. sorry if its lame 🙁

Hi Camo

My plates are on Davids car until I need them, better than paying a storage fee the the Road Trauma Association.

I got mine for my 21st as well, that was a long time ago, in Beetle years I'm an Oval with heart shapes.

Personal plates are real ripoff in NSW, the fees are horrendous so I feel sorry for the suckers paying the fees.

And if this is the same person, your 'Should have said...' comment couldn't be any closer to the truth!

I think its a growing trend to have all different types of plates available, we now have a huge range in tassie, footy team plates, flower plates, euro plates, all different colours

Actually the old saying goes "More dollars than sense" though very few people say it properly these days. It's supposed to be a play on words, ie dollars and cents.

Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

donn ·

My mum and dad usesd to lay this one on me when i was a little bloke, you must have more money than sence they would say, thing is that we were dealing in pounds shillings and pence back then, so that seems to blow the "play on words" theory out the window.
Sorry, couldn't help myself.😂 😍

vwjon ·

i think the origional saying was "more money that common sense" i remember hearing that when i was a kid, but as time goes on things get abreviated and the meanings lost!

ancientbugger ·

A young guy up here for his first car was given by his loving father (read 'Idiot') a new WRX. Needless to say he almost killed himself in his second serious accident within a year. While he was in hospital recovering froma coma sustained in the aforementioned acident, the dad went out and bought him another WRX, the number plate of which was QIK FIX. This one has now been destroyed as well I believe.

vwvic ·

a panel-beater I know on the gold coast was doing a paint job on a late bay that had "IOWNIT"
stickin it to all those BMW and merc owners that owe a s#@t load on their cars.

Camo ·

I saw another wanker today with L84AD8. He obviously would be single with this number plate. Why would you want this???? I guess we all have different tastes.

Kev

mainebugs ·

In bendigo thhere is a mazda 6 with IODAD😬, and there also an early merc cruising around casltemaine with standard issue plates BUG957😎

71-BEETLE-SEDAN ·

A old guy round here drives a merc with the plates ADITUP

A younger guy drives a brand spanker chev/holden commodore with the plates UNRULY

Another Chev/Holden commodore has the plates RAMPNT

A guy drives a "lowlux" with the plates RYDNLO

Ive also seen one on an drag car AGROGT

Yogie ·

I can't believe these guys that buy a holden and put a chev badge on it. Get a grip guys, everyone still knows it is a bommadore.

Yogie

71-BEETLE-SEDAN ·

Yeah thats what i used to say about both those cars till i saw em pop their hoods and saw the chevvy block. Also those two particular cars always seem to be the only cars in the area that dont get teased.

trickysimon ·

That reminds me of the hilux we saw at summernats one year. It had the plates "LOLUX"
So now we just call them lol-ux

71-BEETLE-SEDAN ·

Yeah i only know the term cause was on a minitruckin sit the other day

DU88EN ·

i bout the car with DU88EN plates, some say wanky, some (ricers) ask me (what's dubben?) to which i reply..."ahhh vee dubben dude"

hahaha and it certainly isn't the dubben where you are sitting on 20inch rims either...

ryana89 ·

Bizarre
"Because they dont pay the hundres of dollars each year that NSW asks"

Currently cost over $500 to insure a 1996 Ford Falcon (in QLD)🙅. The whole concept of paying $500 plus to simply say "I own a car, and live in QLD" has always been outta my minds grasp❓ . And of course the money doesn't actually get used for fixing roads. Saw a numberplate on a bommadore ounce saying "I8U4T" 😀. I thinks thats pretty smart👍

Nikos ·

That reminds me of the one on 90210.

I8A4RE

I think it was on a corvette.

Nick

polak ·

i have a few pages of gay shit number plates, one that always made me laugh was " UB6-IB9 "
also there is this wanker in sydney with the number plate "POLAK" 😂 what was he thinking...

Ollie ·

I saw the no. plate "TURBO" today. I'm guessing there would be a few car nuts out there who'd want to get their hands on this!

donn ·

Saw an interesting number plate yesterday.....U1DIOT.. it was on a car that did a U turn over double centre lines in steady trafic.....🤪👎

DaveCarter ·

I saw a riced out civic last week in hurstville with the numberplate JD 33 EM (JDM). I laughed pretty hard as me and my friends always use the term JDM as a bit of a joke

donn ·

Ok, I've waited long enough, what's the meaning of "JD 33 EM (JDM)"?

57 Chook Shed ·

I`ve got "TYPE 01" on my `54 Oval, pretty chuffed with that.
Cost me $125 for life.

4DEHOS thats a classic he must be a Leb,speaking on lebs my mate has FATZFK on an audi with 20s...

amazeer ·

This morning I saw a very well looked after toyota starlet. It had a body kit, wheels, alteza lights, big bore exhaust, stick on racey petrol cap, other stickers on the back yet no number plate?

Why the hell would you do that with a starlet? How can you pretend to be a boy racer in a 55kw starlet? How many modern cars put out less than that? I could have excused it if it had TRY-HRD plates. For the same money you could probably get a brand new proton satria with 50% more power 😀

djnee ·

Today i saw a car with FACEBK (facebook?)

Why would you want that on your car??

57 oval ·

personalised plates arent all that dear in SA so I managed to fluke for my oval the number plate OVAL I think it is a bloody good score

djnee ·

Is it just me or does anyone else think that with the axle stands underneath it makes the car look a bit like a frog?

Bizarre ·

57 oval wrote:personalised plates arent all that dear in SA
You guys are lucky then

they are bloody rediculous in NSW 😠

donn ·

Mine that were on the car when I bought it (BUG33Y) don't cost me anything, though they are standard NSW black and white slim line plates, the po must have just fluked them maybe.

phatratpat ·

saw these plates on a late model BMW.....PMS365..figured it was a divorce settlement😁

57 Chook Shed ·

Got this pic as part of one of those "hilarious, Please read" annoying as all hell emails.
I obviously read it!

Yes... More money than sense

was the saying many many years ago...

long before 14th February 1966

when dollars and cents appeared...

MORE MONEY THAN SENSE....

You don't hear that saying much these days as We all spend too much.... lol
