WTB - kombi steering wheel

I need to replace my steering wheel for a roadworthy certificate.
😠The one I have has massive cracks across the spokes.
to suit 75 kombi

The strength in a steering wheel is in the steel spokes and ring. The cracks in the resin coating are dangerous more so that you can catch a part of your skin in them. Will Wrapping the spokes in black electrical insulation tape provide sufficient approval?
