i have just picked up a 68 beetle and am toying with the idea of making it into a bbq, any pics or advice would be good ori will just part it out

good 1500 project bugs are starting to get scarce

sell it someone looking for a good project rather than cut it up

they're not making any more of these things.....

Just cut it up and make your BBQ👍 It's only a potential buggy anyway so you might as well make something you can cook food in!!! There are still millions of these things rusting away in paddocks....

I've had 2 VW fires in my life....both managed to put out.

My 69 bus went up like this one did....only noticed it when smoke started pouring through the heater vents inside.
Went round the back...fire was about as big as the one in the start of the vid. T shirt off....bit of dousing....drove it home.
I reckon the fire in this one must have been tiny to begin with...as to get out and start filming it must have been a good 2 or so minutes...

There was a bloke on Trading Post that had made a couch, fish tank, bar and BBQ out of beetles

Damn fine bits of work - pricey though

I'm possibly interested in this, but I'd like to see some pics or more info about how much rust there is. I've posted on the other thread about it, PM me if you want to do a deal, but I can only look at it either tomorrow or in the new year.
