sad Reubs, real sad 😍

nice ride.......if only rego wasn't such a drama up this way, i'd be right onto one for my own

jigga ·

love it... there is a beetle ute that lives near my work. its not a rod.. .but would make an excellent starting point for something like this. I have thought a few times of trying to get my hands on it...

tmerivale ·

this thing is GORGEOUS!!!!!

i love it.

Goitsy ·

So cool, so so cool.👍

Stanley ·

now that's cool...and those white walls..mmmm

Bugged ·

This thing is unreal. I want to build one!

Love the Hot Rod style door/winscreen mods. Would be interesting to see what they are going to register it as. Hot Rod? VW? ICV Probably, but will need the guards on all 4 wheels, which will detract from the pretty awesome pose it is making at the moment.

This is being pieced together in Victoria somewhere (pretty sure its by a hot rodder but not sure who - I just found the pic online).

As far as rego it's not eligible for street rod rego as that only applies to pre '49 cars (or replicas of, like a fibreglass rod with a repro chassis), so either a modified VW or ICV would be my guess.

helbus ·

Wheelbase change would make it an ICV.

changed my wheelbase not icv
its just a modified production vehicle🤪

Bugged ·

has anyone seen or heard anything of this machine since it was posted last year?

I am really keen to learn more!

scoobywgn ·

Hey............

This is actually my mums car... we never new pics of it made it to a mag.
The car was originally bought buy my mum as a Baja Ute with a horrid looking tray lol

Car Still looks like the image from the rod shop just more rusty >.< have not had the time and money to keep going with it but its good to see people like it.

waltermitty ·

Are they Bed pans? M

scoobywgn ·

Umm well yes, yes they are... lol
(Mum collects weird stuff)
Also a Ducati 750 monster airbrushed with flowers..

scoobywgn ·

Pics of the build as requested.

the NSW rego ran and needed alot to get into Vic Rego, so we decided to make it a cooler ute, and i got to stripping it down.

scoobywgn ·

Picked up a proper bonnet for 20 bucks to replace the baja fiberglass one, extender beams when in and the white walls came and fitted, with the bigger wheel band for the rear.

scoobywgn ·

Mmmmm Choppy Choppy

Used the 2 rear glass frames from the beetle that donated the roof to make the rear window

scoobywgn ·

Picked up a 1.8lrt Subaru leone motor and a adapter plate for the gearbox.

scoobywgn ·

And that's it, hope you enjoyed =)

will be eagerly awaiting more pictures.

Thanks Scoobywgn for the update

Overkill eng ·

very cool these photos gave us inspiration for our own build ..Ours isn't anywhere as cool as this just a quick thrown together one for fun..

MANTA ·

Did U ever get this painted and ANY MORE PHOTO's of end the result ????

baghall ·

Very cool ride! Very nice work on it as well. Particularly like the metod of making up the rear window and the shaping of the roof at the rear. Baja ute tray was better looking than what my baja ute has atm. Definitely like to see this competed.👍👍

scoobywgn ·

So... im back, the VW ute has been pulled out the fabracation will begin again on it after all this time!

Headlights, Taillights, indacators and mirror's and a proper steering wheel has been bought, the Suby motor and adaptor plate are up for sale on ebay and currently trying to source a complete type 3 1600 flat motor to bolt in!

more updates to come!
Cheers Ash
