To my dismay, in Bad Camberg last week, as part of the Aussie contingent taking some Aussie cars back to Wolfsburg, I met up with 3 people who had bad dealings with a certain individual selling rear venetian blinds via Ebay or the internet. The following email will explain most - I have removed the individuals name, he is located in Coburg - VIC. Does anyone know who he is or is he a member on here as we need to contact him & get this resolved. It was most embarrassing to be approached by Germans who thought Aussie's were "dis-honest" and Untrustworthy.
Please contact me by private email; or U2U as I have promised to try to help these people out.
"nice contact

Hi GH,
As ebay is a binding contract he can be reported for fraud or misrepresenting a product? Not 100% sure on the legality of it all. But Im sure something can be done.
Someone on this forum must know this person or know of him...help sort it out.
There is also an option of leaving very bad feedback in his buyers feedback section.
I am always disapointed in a few that have no conscience and reflect so badly on the human race! 馃檨

Ive heard of making a profit, but for #### sake! This man was Screwed! By the sounds of it, he thought he was getting NOS venetians, and Recieved the Repro ones we can get for a fration of this price! I have seen a number of ads on thesamba.com from Australia for venetians, but havent paid attention where in Australia! I will be from now on! If I notice anything, I will let all know!

From what I gather, one would be advertised on Ebay, then other buyers would contact this vendor privately - lo & behold, he has more than one & the deal is done "off" Ebay.
There was a lot of resentment on the representation of these venetians as "New Old Stock Genuine" & them being shown on a genuine parts box. When they turned up of course, they were made "yesterday" as we all know we can order them any time...

We could hook him up with the groupbuy we have here Guy 馃檪

Coburg is only about two hours from me, how about I go and ask him? 馃槈
hey kruizin...
do a club 'intervention' run. get a few members together, get the details from guy and go up and find out the story.
if it was up this way i would be up. get so sick of people ripping others of. had enough of being ripped off myself over the years.
for the good of the vw.
KruizinKombi 路
How much are these repros available for in Australia? Those guys are paying US$90 + costs, which I figure at the moment equates to around AUS$235 a set. I guess it doesn't matter, I'm just curious to know how much he's making. 馃榾
I know that's not the issue; the issue is the fact that they are not the genuine "Australian accessory offered by VW dealers in the '50's and '60's and shown in the original accessory brochure." They are reproductions. 馃槧
"The photos are of the one in my car, you are bidding on a new one still in the box."
If he can take a pic of the ones on his car, why can't he take a pic of the box too? Though if I was the buyer, I would have been looking for that. The seller possibly doesn't even have the box. In fact, that probably isn't even his car! :o

Have a couple of people working on who it is at the moment, thanks for the help all you Victorians!

Guy, let me know of the address and 'll tell you who it is...I know most of the VW people in Melbourne.

This is fucked and it must be resolved!
Menangler 路
Hey Kruizin Kombi,
How did you work out that $90.00US = $235.00 Aussie dollars?
Using the currency converter it = $132.17.(thats at todays dollar price, but at the time I got around $142.00ea)
I am Menangler and I sold those 2 rear blinds on Ebay a couple of months ago, one went to California and the other stayed in Australia.
They were sold as new, not new old stock, the NOS in the heading was for a search result, both buyers Emailed me to find out if they were New Old Stock or just new. They both knew what they were getting and are very happy with them and left positive feedback for me.
I take photos of one in my car (yes it is my car!) because the visors came to me packed in a good box and ready to ship, and are exactly the same as the one I have.
I bought these blinds for $110.00ea + tax + freight, my cost was $136.00 ea. (WOW I made 6 bucks) so now you know how much I made.
:P
And thats why I don't sell rear blinds on Ebay anymore!
If this guy from Coburg has done the wrong thing, you should be able to go through the proper Ebay proceedure to have it fixed.
KruizinKombi 路
You are right Dave, I converted from UK to AUS, not US to AUS. I also misunderstood about who was selling what to where, I assumed 'menangler' was the person from Coburg. So on both counts, my apologies - I was wrong.
Didn't I meet you on the Blue Mountains Cruise in Jan 02? I know I have seen your posts here on the forum and from what I have seen, you are a trustworthy person, and I apologise for the misunderstanding. 馃檪

Thanks Kruizin,
I just wanted to make sure people didn't confuse me with the seller in Coburg.

Definately was not Dave -
Sprintstar - I will U2U his details - thanks for the help.
Once again, I emphasise that this was done outside of Ebay & the mentioned customer is about $400 out of pocket & has nothing. 3 Germans taken by this seller - who knows how many from other countries.
Afraid to go to any overseas shows after having this dumped on our happy little Aussie travelling group - put a real downer on the week.....

how come one venetian says its location is Melbourne and the other says NSW?
KDFking 路
I just rang my father to ask him if he knew anything about this as he also went to badcamberg this year and i found out that one of the people that got ripped off is a really good friend of ours.As this is the case can somebody please send me his name and address and so I can personally recover all moneys owing. In my experience people that do things like this on a regular basis will not change their ways with a simple "word".The only way to treat somebody like this is to give him a "medical bill" which he can pay off with the money that he took from honest veedubbers.hope to hear from somebody soon.

Hey KDF - spoke to your dad over there.
You have U2U with the details

The plot thickens - he trades on ebay as:
essendon 1962.
has anyone else dealt with him? - still having trouble tracking him down.....馃檨
SKEWtYpe3 路
anyone given him anything black and blue yet ?
70AutoStik 路
The bad news is that E-bay tends to deal with the created identities in these matters (from experience, they will at least send threatening letters.)
The good news is, the government have set up a Task-Force to deal with internet fraud. Have your German friend pass on all details to them - It sounds like this crook was clever enough to avoid the 8 years he deserves, but he'll never be able to do it again with them watching.
BenettonVW 路
Guy, has traded on eBay for quite some time as that name.. As I have said before, I bought my venetian through him and was very pleased and it went smooth and all, so obviously this has changed since..
Guy_H 路
After going through this exercise (I finally contacted the Seller direct). This blind was sold as a NOS blind & of course it was a repro - there was several emails before the purchase to confirm this (I have copies). Allegedly the first one was "lost in the mail", the 2nd one one was sent out of "goodwill" by the sender via post, and of course it was a repro. This was returned by the German back to the Australian, the German paying the post back. The Seller has decided not to refund any money back.
The German is out $285 USD & has no blinds or refunds
Moral of the story:
If buying from overseas, use insured, registered post, and ask the seller to keep the receipt (in this case, there is no proof the item was sent or received). Otherwise you have no grounds for action with the Australian Internet Fraud squad.
Unfortunately, the word is spreading through the German clubs "beware of buying from Australians, they will rip you off" as the last two people caught are fairly high profile in the European VW scene....馃檨
Robo 路
This person has ruined our relations with the Germans, why some people have to be dishonest and rip others off, is beyond me! I hope he suffers some serious Karma.
I would be willing to put in some money, to at least give the Germans their money back! and I would sign a petition to say that we in Australia are NOT happy about this persons behaviour, and are doing our best to expose them, we could add an apoligy at least on our behalf, mabe this would at least go some way to restoring our good reputation!
Rob........
70AutoStik 路
Another moral to this story is: Don't send cash in the mail. It is illegal in Australia and most civilised countries, and anyone who asks for it is almost certainly a crook like this guy - the old "lost in the mail" bit, huh? There was no way to prove the money was ever received and the guy was lucky to even get a repro out of him!
KruizinKombi 路
Rob, I think you have just effectively signed a petition saying that you aren't happy about what happened. :thumb
I don't think any of us are happy about it, but most of us are powerless to do anything about it. 馃檨
Has anybody managed to talk to this guy recently?
Paddo 路
Hate to start up a topic that was dead a long time ago and was not the most pleasant, but.... how can you tell if a rear venetian is the original artical or a reproduction????
What is an original worth as opposed to a repro??
I am talking type 3's here by the way.

Hi
I hope this issue has been sorted. Reminds me of the guy that sold the Heb many times to overseas buyers.
I bought some parts from Ebay UK, the vendor gave me a DHL tracking number so I could keep up with the package. I had the parts sent to my neighbours UK office and I was able to tell him who signed for the package and when it arrived. This was very painless.
