hello everyone.Its a 1969 1500 type 1
a few days ago the blinkers were flashing for a much longer period.Drove to Harp St,picked up a new flasher unit ..The day came when there are no blinkers flashing , but the internal green light stays on .Replaced the flasher unit with the new one thinking i was on top of it.
It made no difference.
I have a green light on the speedo ( not flashing) but none of the blinkers come on.
Checked the fuses, all seem fine.
Looking for some direction , what other issues it could be??
Could all the bulbs blown at once??? Havnt looked.
Many thanks to those who respond.

Does anyone know a vw friendly mobile auto electrician?
Could you post a phone no or email the details .
Many thanks.

What suburb do you live in?
When you say the 'green light' in the speedo, do you mean the double-arrow-shaped green blinker light, that normally flashes? Or the green oil pressure light (hope not!)
Are you sure you connected the correct wires to the correct terminals on the new flasher unit?

sounds like the wires on the connector plug are not connecting properly
give the wires black n grenn / white a push into the connector under the steering coloum

Try another flasher unit. Might have got a dodgy one.
Bizarre ·
Also check youur earths from the indicator bulbs

I live in George`s Hall. Its beside Bass Hill.
The green double arrow in the bottom of the speedo is the item im refering to.That is on constantly when the indicator stalk is moved in any position (L) or ( R) to indicate,I will have a go at the steering wheel turn signal wiring and see if there is a conection issue there.
The blinker bulb earth will also be investigated as well and shall get back to you all..
Thanks.

Reading this has reminded me that i need to try another flasher unit in my car.
Mine works fine....until you leave them on for 30 secs or so...and then they stop flashing and just remain in the "on" position. Sometimes they might work again a few minutes later, but generally after they've stopped for the day i then have to do them "manually" by moving the indicator stalk up and down!
Sounds like the flasher unit yeah?

The new flasher unit has a extra pin.
It had a number the original didnt have , 52 b.
I do feel confident that i did install every wire to the corresponding numbered pin.
Is there any way of testing the new flasher to see if its faulty??
Otherwise it will be another trip out and it will be after payday.
Many thanks.

Because the flasher units work on load sometimes there isnt enough load to turn it off, E.G when i put led indicators in it no longer worked. If a new flasher isnt any good try replacing the light in the speedo. (this is just from my experience)
