How do you fix it?

1500S ·

Helicoil (Recoil) or get a stepped stud made and tap oversize. Suggest M7 x 1 for oversize as 6mm is tapping size for this M7.

stepped studs are available for just that...

at most VW advertised shops...

I have seen them when watching a friend doing an oil change..

I have never had any problems...

You need a T driver [1/4 inch] and socket...

then its hard to over tighten...

and always use a new gasket kit each oil change...

M7 bolts and nuts are hard to find .. lol..

My auto gearbox bottom plate has 7mm screws and some have 7mm bolts...
I was going to replace them as I usually replace all old bolts and screws.. but 7mm.. none about...

cheers

Stepped stud, M8 one end and M6 the other. I have em. About 5 bucks if you want one.

For reference, most trans nose cones on bug and bus use 7mm fasteners.
Handy to know if you ever need a nut, stud or bolt,(bolts from mid 1975).
Some type 4 engines used them to hold the clutch cover to the FW.

And all Type IV rocker nuts and studs
