john sherman at labradoor has them in stock already to go ,ther $30 each and will fit any volkswagen, there is 6 standard lengths he did all 4 for my splitty(i used beetle back on my front and kombi back on back)
STIDUB ·
have they been tested though? last time i asked he couldnt give me an answer other than they fit fine...
update for the rest, to get em cheaper we need minimum of 5 sets the same... how different are strut/irs bugs compared to bj/lp & swingers?

I don't believe that the sherman hoses are DOT/ADR approved. Pretty sure we checked that out at action day didn't we dave?

Def need ADR approved for brake hoses and the like.....be lucky for approved at that price, sounds like from the states to me. Seen other 'approved' stuff from him that had Empi ground off😬. They should have ADR stamped on the crimps at the fittings.
colonel mustard ·
I'm not saying his stuff is bad, but it is important to check 🙂
cnfabo ·
before i say yay too 4, why are these better then the standard hoses...
Wow. brilliant link Kev. ADR and for the money....very cool. Answered Cnfabio's question, basically better pedal feel, looses some spongeyness and longer living. The new rubber lines these days dont last as well as they used to.

They look NICEEEEEEE!

Wish I had seen this thread earlier-just got home from buying 1 metre of hose and the fittings for the caliper ends(the other ends going to the steel pipes have to be ordered in) and I parted with $85.00.I will probably need another $50.00 for the other 2 fittings.
STIDUB ·
so how many do we have that are 100% keen? i can take my hoses to them for sizing etc
hellbugged, is it safe to assume you want the soft ones from the falcon caliper to the beetle hardline too?
5+ of the same thing gets the price going south....
cnfabo ·
are they same lenghth with k&l bugs compared to bj bugs..
matberry ·
I'm in for 2 b/j front but would prefer 40 mm longer than stock.
BiX ·
I will take a set, if you can post/drop them off to moorooka or take them to the VWDCQ meeting (will pay for postage/petrol money). I can deposit the money into your account. (ps if you still have the guards I will take them to on the same basis)
LIFE IN THE LOW LANE ·
I got All of Troy's brake lines done in braid(stock length in front and run braid from caliper to junction box at front of torsion housing so pretty long lengths.) Cost about $400 from memory all ADR approved with the ADR tag and approval numbers on them.
there are a lot on ebay but very few are ADR approved so be careful. Generally the cheap price tag tells you that....

yup, perfect example is shermans, trust me im anally retentive sussing this crap out, getting sick of people saying shits legal when they have no clue - serious problem in the jap car world, cheap copies of everything, not many interested in facts etc, its painful, expensive but its good to know the stuff you paid for will keep you alive when it hits the fan, well hopefully 😂
for those that are keen, im going to try visit the seller & check it out myself to be certain the product is what they claim, its on a loooong list of to-do's though🤪
cnfabo ·
what was the outcome of these brake lines
STIDUB ·
havent got there yet, other things always come up instead, its still on the list of things to do though, i really wish i had them already too.

Hi
I had them on my old 1302, I was running 4 spot Brembos all round, I cant say I felt any improvement using them.
I always thought that the whole non ADR approval thing was because road grit would penetrate the outer braiding and cause the inner nylon tube to wear away which could cause a failure.
