i have a 72 superbug, it is registered, engine runs ok but has fairly big oil leak, paint is fairly poor, faded with blisters and peeling off in areas, there is substantial rust bubbles in the roof from 1 end to the other and around the back window both sides as well as a couple other areas, chrome is not real good, drives ok still, whats it worth?

probably worth more in parts than a whole unit from the discription

yeah would have to agree with dub on that one.Personally from the sounds of things i would be hesitant to pay 1K.
just my opinion.

What would you say the condition of the engine (apart from the oil leak) and gear box is?

If it's a rust free pan, it's worth more than $1k. Chuck up some pics!

mechanically its ok as far as i can tell

It has a large rust area in the rear floor the size of the battery

i bought a 72 super in about the same condition for $300 sorry for the bad news
13bwagon ·
yeah but 300 must be cheap and if you where to resell it you would get more ??
worth wise ill buy it off you for 300
jsheppard64 ·
sounds like my car when i bought it. with rust hole on the back pillar the size of a tennis ball, more rusts under the front guards, blistering paints aswell and a dying gearbox.
but i got it for 500... my point is
sell it as a whole thing.. I'd pay 500-600 if i have the money
i don't think you make a lot more than that selling as parts
might aswell have someone else have a crack at it.

My thoughts were $500. If the engine and or gearbox could be tested and sold as second hand units, they would be worth more than the car. How do you prove or verify the quality of them though?
