It IS illegal in New South Wales to have Your P plates inside the car on Your windows..
BEFORE driving into NSW..
place Your P plates on the front and rear of YOUR car...
away from the windows....
I was told that interstate drivers need to know the traffic regulations when driving into NSW....
You Will lose Your licence...
The NSW Highway Patrol officers know this...
so beware if You are a P PLater from interstate...
coming to VALLA [VW Spectacular] or the VW Nationals this year....

We drove to Stockton Sand Dunes last weekend towing two buggies & a camper trailer. One of the group was a QLD P plater, and an RTA truck passed us on the highway VERY slowly checking us out, but then drove off.

trailers under 1500kgs in Victoria don't need to be registered
AS they are covered by the car rego... etc..
this is causing problems in NSW... with the police..
i'M Not sure if they can do anything legally...
even though trailers have to be registered in NSW seperately ..
but NSW police do know the different regs from THE OTHER states...
and the NSW Highway Patrol can and do act...
they are the ones to watch out for...
and of course the nice new green Commodores etc that are Un-marked.. and now the EVO Lancers....

Hi
I'm not sure about other states but in NSW, P1 (red Ps) car licence holders can tow small trailers with up to 250 kg of unloaded weight.

Hi
Just wondering, if I were to drive down to NSW from QLD on lets say my red P's, would I have to stick to the 90km/h speed limit that P platers in NSW are restricted to? I beleive its 90 km/h for red and 100 km/h for green NSW P platers? Probably wouldn't matter anyway as I drive like a granny馃槀

I was quite sure the rules of the state you have your license in reflect on the rules you can be done by. For example I was driving between SA and VIC and a copper pulled me over to tell me my car was too low and to defect me, but as the car and driver were from SA he couldnt do anything about it. (this was about 8 months ago). Same with the road rules i would have thought that if your licence allows you to drive 100 on your P plates, then those license rules would be the same no matter what city you drive in.

i see it as the opposite. If you go to the US and drive on the left hand side, you are in trouble, they gonna book you,. wont care about your aussie licence. You have to play by the rules of whichever land you are in, whether they are internal or externally foreign lands.

Yes,
its always been legal in other states..
but not in New South Wales...
regardless of Your rego plates etc..
or Your licence....
Yet, car modifications can be different... from state to state
and You don't have to abide by another states laws as Your car is registered for the road in that state..
but... P Plates in the windows can lose Your Licence...
Police could be USER friendly...
and pull the car up and advise the driver of the NSW rules..
They don't have to be Nasty people.. [NSW highway patrol]
as How many people do You know, who would look up the road rules for the state they are driving into?????
NO ONE I know of would even think of doing that...
As for driving in overseas countries...
I DO believe most people would enquire about the rules..
Driving on the incorrect side of the road- Now that is DEADLY
in any country... on highways... and larger towns.. and narrow country roads..

Yeah this is all abstract for border town drivers. Echuca Moama or Albury Wodonga.
It just does not make sense that a country of 22 million cant just have a national licence for all.Greater New York has that many people in it. A national licencing was able to be done for heavy transport licences.

Well... they do have a national basic road regulations...
like speed limits etc...
BUT then they have all these little ODD laws...
Anyone on here know if Wodonga P Platers get booked in Albury for P plates in windscreen etc..??
I think they would have to be more tolerant.... both ways..
