We're racing again at Gunnedah Airport on15 & 16 May.

1/8th mile drag racing is on again at Gunnedah airport on the weekend of15 & 16 May . Racing is open to all types of vehicles and bikes in a safe and controlled environment. No previous experience required – just a current driver’s licence

i will get the trophy and I think I seen some where that bug racer was offering $ ???
at the end of the day if you show up and have the quickest vw youll be number 1
It would be nice to see lots of volkswagens out having some fun
so you can bring you beetle,kombi, golf , passat etc😊

May's a bit close to nationals

Come on no excuses, it's only another 70klm more than what we travel to get there you drive your vw's further than that. 😂😂

We just want to know who's coming and there's July as well.

It would be good to see a lot me vw's there as there was only 2 of us there on the weekend. But we sure did suprize some V8 guys especialy with Buz as they think they have it won when they look at him but I'm gone by the time they take off.

And than you get another 3 knock out runs in the dial in.
So that's pleanty of runs to do a quick time.

Great idea guys!! How many have entered so far?? Is this restricted to VW's with original type engines only? So no Suby/ commodore/ rotary powered VW's??

Everbody is welcome, but if its not a vw power vw your not in the running for the trohpy🥲 but have the chance to take out the bracket racing 😊

Ian I'll be there in may barring any complications with my little engine.I would like to see the volksies run heads up in qualifying (8 runs you say)and winners keep racing winners til theres only 1 left street style!I'll spring for a burger dinner for the winner if you go that way and you can still have a trophy for the car that has quickest time in qualifying.So some one could get a trophy some one a burger or maybe someone gets both!

i'll aim for July

Tamworth Drag Association runs the Gunnedah Drags. That run over two days Sat & Sun and there are some cheap motel in town as well as a caravan park.

I think you can also sleep outside the track in the car park area you would just have to ask them.

We would be racing amongst all the other cars as they normally only have 3 classes eg. Bikes, cars & junior dragsters

Then on Sun after 3 runs the cars get put into 4 time categories for the finals. It’s worked out on times. Then its knock out on dial ins.
all races count for the quickest vw time .
so if your first run on the Saturday morning is the quickest over the weekend you ll be number 1 vw and still have a chance to take out the event win in the Sunday finals as well

I've got my reaction times from .273, .324 & .389 down to .119, .118, .009, .040, .002

So I can't wait to get back up there and beat them all at the start.😂😂

I think we will aim for the May drags for the Trophy.
I am pretty sure that we will be at both events .
as Rose likes racing and its something to do.

I like the sound of may for the vw dubs,been tuning the 1641 its going real well so far,got tomorrow off and more "TUNING FOR SPEED".My crewcheif/maths nerd ritchie has done the math 1300km round trip.

Yes, Burger it is....! You also forgot to mention it will be trailered down there......lol (not going to finish the 2332cc)

frosty 2332 wont b back in for a while funds are extra tight atm,plus the little motor is heaps of fun to mess around with and the fuel ecconomy is a lot better than the big one with webbers!

we will have to work out when to get down there and where to stay....

Great to see that you are coming along all the way from Sunny QLD. Just pay on the Sat morning is fine just make sure you get there for scrutineering between 7am & 9.30am.

Yes it's at the Airport. Heading west on the hwy (37) turn right onto Chandos St at the rounda bout and they will have signs up drag racing, go over the narrow bridge than turn left onto Wean Rd than left over to the airport entry. Easy to find. Just ring me if you get lost 0427 550 203

It doesn't cool, the 1/8 is such a short run and there will be a wait in between runs that it should cool down ok.
