They had a few articles about this car back in the early '90s then nothing. Did it ever make it to the track? Anyone has pics? Looked pretty cool during the construction phase

Richard is pushing the race guys (Jak, CT, Paul L, Deiter and a few others)
He may throw another motor into it.
The original 2.8L was sold off to a guy and disappeared into the never never.
Once the other motors are sorted he may do one for himself. He did do some work on the brakes the other day

Barry Hes been working on the brakes ever since i can remember.
Craig Torrens ·
Dave that was the first style of brakes, its now version 28, get with it !😀
vw54 ·
Yes i know that but we are still adjusting the Camber, Castor and Accaman, but version 28 will work.
WHO CARES.
Bizarre ·
Deiter stole version 26 for the Green Plauge.

The accaman adjuster is still on the design board. # 52
Craig Torrens ·
I thought it was #48, progress has been made then😀

[Edited on 16-7-2003 by blue74l]
Craig Torrens ·
Fu#k my brother had a cabrio, and I didn't even know !!!!!😠
The car Hellbug restored was for Jeff Paradise, another motoring Journo !
Not too sure where it has gone, very nice car though.:thumb
Project Oval , what a waste !
They all seem to be "Dak to the PAST"
amazer ·
you mean to say I have made a mistake? Surely that is just not possible.
Phil74Camper ·
Geoff Paradise - now there's a name from the past. He edited those Aussie 'Newest Bestest Fastest Street Super Shiniest VW' magazines in the early 1990s. I remember trading a few letters with him.
He tried starting a 'VW and Porsche' magazine that lasted one issue. Then he went back to V8s from whence he came.
I did spot an article by him recently in Light Commercial Vehicle magazine, believe it or not !!
vw54 ·
believe it or not !!
I think that was a classic quote
Craig Torrens ·
Maybe "Dak to future" is someones new year resolution !!
2004........................."the year of the accaman"😀
vw54 ·
No it will be a BIG day on the steering geometry
XXX-1.8T ·
Has anyone got any pics of this famous bug?
Bizarre ·
The whole story is on the Club Vee Dub site - about 10 pages of it.
vw54 ·
Its not finished yet ???
:alien:alien:alien
lardo ·
Geoff Paradise is still alive and well on the Central Coast & driving the cabrio in question.
Bizarre ·
Lardo
the car in question is Richard Holzl's 1303 centre seated race car.
It is still growing at Mortlake.
Deiter keeps on pushing in 😀
Flintstones ·
apparently it's suposed to be ready for racing in March 2004....
Cheers
Craig Torrens ·
its alright to quote a month i.e. MARCH, but I wouldn't be quoting the YEAR .😀😀
If you did that at the start of the project you would already be wrong ten times😉
HEHEHEHEHEHEHe who started this again😀
Cam ·
Yeah, it's been ongoing. But car projects always are. Better not point him in the direction of a wind tunnel or it will be another 10 years!
vw54 ·
I think its 11
Deano youve been listening to the wrong end of the horse !!!!

Wind tunnel ??:jesus that's the same end of the horse Dave's talking about 😀
or is it a donkey:alien
Cam ·
Mule, ass? Which one?!?!
Dunno, never seen the car or met the guy. So I'm not gonna pass judgement. Plus he was doing something unchartered in his spare time out of his own pocket, so yeah. Not really like doing an IRS/Balljoint type3 reared beetle. But still, been a long while. Would'nt of minded seeing it on the track, at least that way it would now be a historic piece of VW racing history😎
Craig Torrens ·
it needs to race before it can have a "racing history"
we are only having fun, the owner is pretty cool 😎 (due to ceramic coating)
Cam ·
heh, thats what I was meaning. Shame it has'nt yet seen the track.
Cool :thumb I was meaning to get to V-Force when I was last in Sydney, but just ran out of time. Hrrm... Ceramic. Those going to be his new brakes then? 😉
Bizarre ·
Cam wrote:Hrrm... Ceramic. Those going to be his new brakes then? 😉
