I'll be heading down from the sunny coast on the friday morning n usually there are a few dubbers cruising south for the event from queenslander
I'm up for it n beginning for me from the sunny coast
anyone else making the trek feel free to tag along
I'm sure this will be made up as the time comes closer
pick ups points along the way any suggestions

If i can get enough money tohether to cover the gearbox repair ,,, & if we can get it back in the hole & running in time (need to do all 4x CV joint boots & a few other fiddly things too,,,, then we will most probably be comming down thursday night or friday morning

H what time you thinking about heading off up there...just so we know what time roughly you will be around our way for those wishing to do the convoy ?
There is a small BP servo abit before & on the opposite side of the road to the Big Prawn...maybe the place to meet

I'm looking at leaving the sunny coast noosa area via cooroy to the hi-way at 07.00
all going well I'll be then onto the BP yatala for coffee etc maybe meet up more dubbers n leaving it by 09.00 then onto u guys at the BP near the big prawn (RIP) at maybe 10.30? not sure..
what do u think judy?
I am happy/prefer to cruise at the speed limit with or without dubbers but with dubbers is more fun

A small group of us are planning on leaving the Gold Coast at 7am on Friday for the run down - assuming that the Kombi's Auto box is back in one piece and all the bolts are tight!
It is quite likely that others that are heading down at later times will catch up with us as we are travelling with two kids (so potty stops will happen every 45 mins 😁 ). Hopefully we will be there before dark this time!

A few of us will be heading off from the goldy friday morning - can't specify exact time at this stage but probably between 8 and 9am-ish. Will be a slow trip down for us (with kid stops but also because Steve who works for me will be driving his splitty dual cab (stock 1500 single port with reduction hub gearbox)).....so a few of you may pass us! 🙂

I'll have a chat to the others to sort out a time of departure but I'm happy for everyone to meet at my workshop (west burleigh - close to the M1 with a servo just around the corner on the way to the m1 if needed).
As mentioned I would say between 8 and 9am (but will finalise this in the next couple of days) - my workshop is DAS Resto Haus, 6/2 Calabro Way, Burleigh Heads (0417 645 854). Reedy creek road exit off m1, right at first set of lights into burleigh gardens industraial estate, left at t-intersection, follow road (curves around to the right), Calabro Way is your first left.

ok I've been thinking about the gateway arterial parking lot senario n that doesn't sound like a fun way to begin a great vw weekend away so I really think that leaving earlier will end in smiles all round
I propose to leave sunny coast, tewantin area at around 6am via cooroy to highway south, (can roll thru big BP caboolture if required) onto the yatala BP for a pit stop around 08.00 leaving about 08.30 onto servo opp big prawn to meet others around 09.30 for a 10.00 departure south..
any thoughts shout em out..
being stuck in am traffics is for others not vw lovers

Hi guys at this stage we plan to meet at 8.30am at my workshop, then depart 9am SHARP to hopefully catch up with Judy and crew around Byron to continue the journey south. Hopefully everything goes to plan.

We haven't really thought of a time for setting off yet, not that organised. We'll be taking it fairly slow and stopping, we like coffee and the dogs need to pee from time to time. We're pretty easy on timings, we can't get into the house until after 2 anyway, if we get there early, I'll go for a surf, if there's any swell.

It`d be really cool if , on the way to &/or from Valla,,, If we could have ,,, say,,, a type-3 driving behind me all the way,,, with it`s bonnet open,,, catching all the expensive gearbox parts comming out the back of my kombi
but then maybe it would be pretty smart if i just brought along a spare gearbox for the trip
anyone up for a gearbox swap on the side of the road ???
