omg omg omg omg.😵

Joels72Lowlight ·

Yes they made sliding doors optional after 1964.

This particular van was made in Germany then imported to Indonesia where it spent years working at the airport transporting pilots. Then was imported to Australia a couple of years ago, changed owners once andd then fell into my hands 😎

Is the only KNOWN factory slider in Australia 😎

reub ·

I know that car... Import from indonesia, Something about Perth, then Darwin, then to you

reub ·

Gaz did a shit load of work on that bus after buying it...so much for the honest seller he bought it from.

Think you've scored well.

colonel mustard ·

looks awesome dude!!

tell us more! more pics!

Joels72Lowlight ·

Yes good old Gaz 😁SOmething like 260 hours!

Thanks Colonel! More pics when there has been more progress, or maybe another cruise 😂

devon57 ·

Mate you were in the right place at the right time👍
Very nice

Joel ·

Tastefully done 👍
a few modern touches but still retaining that classic charm

Can I just make one observation, those late beetle wiper arms are probably a great safety upgrade (6volt wiper arms SUCK) but they look abit out of place
or is it just me that it glares at?
maybe painted silver instead of black?

Joels72Lowlight ·

Thanks Joel, Comfortable yet classic 😀
Well I didn't notice them until now haha.
Might have to paint them silver. Tehy Don't suit the van at all.

Devon- Cheers mate, I was very lucky!

Edison ·

Well done Joel. I'm sure i speak for all of us when i say we'd like more pics of the interior. Is it a factory walk-thru? I looks so shiny that i bet you'll soon be looking for a new project to get down and dirty again 🙂

Joels72Lowlight ·

No, they actually the bulkhead❗ But I like the walkthrough so its all cool.

No worries mate, Ill get some interior pics.

I kinda want a beetle now 😂

Joels72Lowlight ·

Joels72Lowlight ·

I can work off a diagram but cant troubleshoot for shit.

Pumba ·

Its good to see your very happy with the new bus,she looks great nice colour combo i like it🙂 looks like the old panel will have to take a back seat for a while ??? if you want to sell the headlight baskets from the panel let me know😁 cheers shane.

PartyHatCentral ·

There are a number of these in Australia from what I can gather. I have also heard of a local twin-slider split in recent times - it never ceases to amaze me what's out there.

wilderness ·

did it come standard with the leopard print hairdryer????? lol

Joels72Lowlight ·

Took some more photos, what do you all think?

cam070 ·

Love the car and the pics. The first pic looks like those videos that guys did that made the news, the time lapse ones that look like they use lego people.

empi ·

There was a 75 Fleetline Splitty for sale in Vic a few months ago , had a sliding door.

Wheels and lowering time!!🥷

Joels72Lowlight ·

Thanks guys 🙂
Have a link to the video Cam?

I would love to Empi but Im a bit low on cash 🙁

Would love to drop the rear end 3 inches and get some 17" Radars or something.

If you go into the Patents office and do a search, you will find the blue prints for the VW bus sliding door dated 1962... Just another bit of useless trivia...
