I found a battery powered car on the side on the road for my kids today. In ok condition, does work, but the battery is dead. Does anyone know, what voltage are they? 12v? What sort of battery do they use? where might I find one?

I threw a small car battery in the one I had for my kids....went for hours and very fast as it had 2 six volt motors -1 on each back wheel- and it loved getting 12 volts through it...lasted a couple of years before they broke it towing stuff馃榿 One charge kept it going all day!!!!

this only has one motor. seems to have a 12a fuse too. how many volts are they?

Scab 馃槀

see if there is a name plate on the motor that might have the voltage on it.
depending upon the age of it, it could be anywhere from 6v to 12v

you can buy batteries at super cheap or any house alarm supplier

The one in my daughters is 7.2v.

grrr, no markings of any kind that I could see except for the "ok" inspection stickers (ok in chinese of course). I guess I'll try a battery place and see what we can work out. The motor looks to be about the size of a wiper motor. The fuse is a blade type car fuse rated at 15amps. Not that means much though I guess.

Silver: totally. A scab and loving it. I've never paid for a TV or a little kiddies bike. In fact the last kiddies bike I wanted to get rid of sat on the side of the road for a week. So the missus said, "put it on ebay". We got $25 for bike people wouldn't take! 馃槀

take it to an house alarm fitter and ask him to find out

Hey mate,
Take a pic of the battery and post it and I'll let you know. Once you know, you can get the batteries anywhere. Jaycar, Battery World etc. If you want a quality one, contact a company called "Battery Specialties" in Moorebank, Sydney. That's where I (and most alarm companies) get all my Emergency?Exit lighting batteries from. They're very good.

Cheers,
Steve

You could go all out with 24volts like this.

It will be a valve regulated Lead Acid battery, it will either be a 6 volt normally 10amp hour or a 12 volt 7 amp hour. If you have the cradle size I could work it out as I work for a battery supplier / wholesaler.

thanx, I'll go do some measuring

I heard of a bloke who put a fridge on the street with a sign saying "free" and it sat there for a week. He put a sign on it saying "$50" and it was pinched that night...

it's 155 x 55 x 105mm (length/width/height)

is that what you wanted to know?
