CANCELLED - Drag Racing @ Gunnedah in July 17th & 18th

Hi All,

July meet - 17th & 18th.
Please also note the helmet specs, as you will not be able to race if your helmet does not meet the standards specified by ANDRA.

Gotta have at least screens on there,
just make sure it is nothing restrictive.

Rose and ian were nice enough to give me some fly screen mesh they got from bunnngs.
It did the job well.
It was pretty agricultural, (lots of duct tape!),
but better than having a rock wedged between a titanium valve and the piston!!

Do you have a picture Rose or Ian?

A helmet with AS1698 is acceptable or not??
The first part says helmets must currently meet AS/NZS 1698
but then it states that AS 1698 is no longer recognised by standards australia
Which is it?
Then as of 1.8.2011 some other standard will not be permitted.

I'm probably not the only one wondering what the deal here is. As like most people my helmet has AS1698 on it. Would like to know what is required and where i can get what is required. Do these changes also apply to supersprints/ hillclimbs??

the AS/NZS is only for drags (I think)........I had to buy a new helmet for the drags at WSID, even though I had a new 1698 one that i use for track work.

ok so if your helmet says AS 1968 it's no good but if it's AS/NZS 1968 :2006 it's ok??

Give Matt, Steve or Bill a call this week before you come to race at Gunnedah.

Yep thats right....silly isn't it, but thats how ANDRA works !

Looks like i'll have to go out and get me a new helmet if i want to go drag racing mine has AS1698.

Hi All,

Drag racing at Gunnedah this weekend - 17 & 18 July - has been cancelled.
Sorry to disappoint, but due to the recent rains, Gunnedah Council have deemed the airport grounds to be too wet.
We are hoping to arrange another date as soon as we can and we'll keep you posted.

Please assist us in spreading the word as much as possible.

what more do you have to do???????i thought you had it ready at the nationals!!!!!

nah mate
still have to adjust rear suspension( so it doesnt reach for the sky)
adjust gearbox , (cant get reverse properly)
re route some oil lines
make new oil breather
put in isolator switch
re tune again blah blah blah
