Tailgating : Why?

For the second day in a row sombody has aggesivly tail gated me.

Yesterday it was a stupid woman driving a falcon on a hill ridden, country road with a 100km/h speed limit. The way she was driving she obviously wanted to die (cutting out behind me onto the other side of the road going UP the hill, near the crest).

Then today someone in a trayback Bravo thought it would be a good idea to do the same in town and then pull up beside me at the lights (on a single lane only road) less than 100mm from my car😬

Are people suicidal? Are drugs taking over? Or does my little MK2 Golf sound aggressive with its 'GTI' exhaust and temps people to race/drag/tailgate and squeeze beside me?

I've seen it alot of other times aswell, and Im sure you've all seen dickheads like these aswell.

Really makes me think whether its safe to drive with 3rd party insurance.👎

If I was driving a lug of a ute or car, then sure.
But its itimidating to play 'tag' with your car when its small, lowered and expensive to buy parts for.

I did slow though in both occaisions by 10k🤓

I don't blame ya for being pissed. the amount of people who do it is rediculous. Back when i was a stupid P plater, i had hooked the handbrake up at least half a dozen times. Lockin up for a few seconds, screaming tires and smoke certainly makes them keep their distance, and their faces are priceless 😂

Don't try that haha. But its a learning lesson for them.

Maybe install a 'flame thrower' kit on ur exhaust :P

The problem with slowing down is you increase the chance of them engaging in some more road rage. I used to do it when people tailgated, but these days the easiest thing to do is try and find the earliest opportunity to let them past. Yes it sucks to have to do that because they're the idiot, but at least you and your car will remain in one piece.

The only other option is heat seeking missiles, but in Sydney town you'd need a panel van full just for a daily trip to work and back. Of course after a while you'd thin the idiot herd a little, and the message might get out.

Coming home from work on thursday night I was tailgated by a motorbike. The speed limit was 80 k's because of road works, which did seem stupidly slow. Anyway I decided to be stubborn and stuck to the speed limit. Eventually he passed me and I saw it was a cop!

I hate tail gaters because they are so close...

If You need to hit the brakes suddenly..
They will most likely run into the back of you..
Something I don't want to happen...

If I'm going too slow in My beetle on the highway [one lane]
I usually pull over and let semi and B doublesl go round Me..
or give them a flash with My blinkers to tell them to go around me. I then take My foot off the accelerator until they are past Me... they usually have a long way to go... lol

had it happen to me yesterday actually guy got angry followed me after I sat on the speed limit flashing his lights so had my mum who was in my polo phone the police station told them my number plate details and the car that was being aggressive drove towards their station and the pulled him over out the front, we had a win I think he copped a fine for it

Exactly what I should do next time it happens.
I didn't take my mobile with me so I couldn't ring the police (didn't expect to be tail gated)
If only I drove an old, banged up ute that wouldn't mind playing 'tag'😂

Have not had a problem since I got a trunk monkey installed.👍

My attitude so it must be the correct one, who gives a flying fig about the bloke behind, you will never change his driving style so just concentrate on the bloke in front and the bloke hanging on to your steering wheel. 😘

My conclusion is 80% people can't drive or are smart a$$ idiots. My advice is learn to drive like a racer and you will avoid most obstacles that these people present.
Saved my a$$ many times drifting sideways to avoid someone hitting me. 🙁

I was coming out of a car park last week and some guy was sitting right on my back bumper, beeping his horn.
Everytime he beeped I would completely stop the car.
Lets just say he wasnt very happy about that 😂

How come you're not fully insured then? Silly move not to be?

I just back off and then i floor it then back off again when they tail gate again they get the message sooner or later.or i just punch it and let em tail gate someone else

To be honest most of the dickheads who Tailgate me are P Plates without driving experience under their hats. The silly cow who tried doing it to us the other week got the scare of her life lets put it this way, she backed of really quick! 😉

F3 !!! many people behave aggressively on the F3... even if some tool is going slow in the overtaking lane does not give you the right to fool around (tail gate or intimidate) and put those around you lives at risk.. you are in a object weighing more than 1200kgs travelling at greater than 80 or 100km'h!! humans are designed for 3 mph FFS

i dont care how close a car gets behind me but i tell my family members if it worries them jus put blinker on and pull over and let em go past. usually they just want to get past

I laugh as most tail gaters can't drive cause as soon as a few corners come they are left behind. I get it every day going to & from work in the Hilux with towbar still doesn't deter them. People always seem to be in such a hurry. So as long as I'm doing the speed limit I don't care I'm insured and their car will be worse off than my hilux lol. Most of the time they a small cars as well.

Throw half empty bottles of coke out the window at road signs and they seem to back off a bit 😂😂😂
