Yes,

they were foot burners back then..

VW moved them rearwards a few times over the years..

so, they wouldn't cook Your Right foot... lol

just checked my June 56 Bug and the outlets are right forward up near the firewall

however i have seen Ovals with the heater outlets as per yr pic not sure when they changed but have seen both positions for 56 models

did u purchase that channel to suit an Oval or did they just send u that one

what have u got on the car at present

Hi, thanks for the comment..

the car i have right now has them very forward near the firewall.. so you say that they have changed them around?

Thanks Lee, ive had a thought. Im on to much of a budget to buy another one of these to make it even But ive had a look at the heater channel ive just bought and the heat tube runs all the way down so it would be very hard to relocate the grills forward BUT i know that on my oval the heat tube doesnt run all the way on the left side so moving the left " foot Burner" back would be easy

you can cut the grill section out and weld it forward blank the hole after

yes but the tube runs to that grill and then stops, if i were to re weld it, it would have no air flowing to it.. very tricky

Here's my '56
