Hi all, since my daughter's Bug has a front hood that covers the fresh air box that provides ventilation for the demister outlets, I have come to the conclusion that I need an elec one to be fitted under the hood.
The blower assy comes from the later model L Bugs with curved screens (thanks for the info Dylan) and if possible I'd like to get my mitts on one for a reasonable price.
If possible I am able to pick up in Sydney/Newcastle area..if not I'll pay postage.
Cheers

Hi
You want one from 76 bug not an L bug.

may have to look overseas
as Steve said the only bugs in aus to get them were the flatscreen 76s and not many of them around
Lbugs fans are just an actual fan, no box housing
Flat screen fans dont even do much anyway, a good mate of mine inherited his fathers 76 and dash fan just blows a bit of outside air on the screen, thats it would be luck to flicker a candle

We fitted a pair of bilge fans to my son's S bug, these were fitted under the rear seat where the tube comes from under the car into the heater channel,a fan resistor gives 2 speeds and this extra boost is excellent as it doesn't rely on engine speed. It entails a little work but is worth the effort.

Thanks to all those who PM'd me and offered one of the original Air Boxes, but as you can see in the pic...the hood has no vents/grills in the upper surface so that air can actually be fed into the box in the first place.
I have the original pulled out of it in the shed as it serves no useful purpose.
What I want to do is mount a blower fan somewhere under the hood that I can plumb into the demister vents (3 of them).
My 74 Charger has a heater box that for the demister to work when the water is cold..an electric element heats up and the fans blows the resultant warmish air out the demister vents.

Wow Oscar is looking ver ver good from when i seen him last. you are relay lookin after him. What you wanna do is simalar to what im thinking of doing. You can get an L Bug blower which is just a universial type of blower with tube on it. you will have to hook the blower into the bonnet then run air tubes going to the dash vents via the Heaterbox with element in it. It would be a custom make up for what you want , the only reason why people were saying you need a 76 flat screen one is because thats what you need if you wanna run it like factory setup for this sorta model but you can do a custom Job with a L Bug Blower because it's quite universial and has 2 Speeds. Also Keep the pics coming maybe inside? engine?

Nothing a bit of polish won't fix mate

get two 12volt hair driers
most 12 volt shops have these , I fitted two to a mates 911 race car

Are you trying to get heat or just fresh air onto the windscreen?
If its heat, just leave the stock heater hoses in place and add some booster fans like Grumble said
but if its Fresh air the problem you may find with using an Lbug fan pulling air from the boot space is you might end up with fuel smell in the cabin from the tank breather.
Thats why stock fan boxes pull in air from outside

Yeah Joel i was thinking he might have to make an induction tube from the side skirt intakes somehow?

Hi
That is usually the resistor for the fan speeds.
It wouldn't be too hard to get some outside air to to fan if you cut into the depression in the bonnet.
