Hi All,
after cruising the razor for a solid 1 1/2 hrs at VALLA on sunday arvo with AC-DC at full noise 馃お, my AMP has decided to only work spasmotically...
..any ideas what it might be ??
Works for only a few minutes at a time at the moment,
its a SONY 444

What does the amp do exactly?
cut out after those couple minutes?
Does it have the 'short' protection cut off? most do... and when it cuts out, it shines a light stating such (on clarions its a red light) does such a light shine or show cut off protection is on when it cuts off?
My clarion used to do it when turned up too loud, and got to the point where it would hardly pump up before it woud cut out.... i replaced the leads and made sure all terminals had good solid connections without any stray copper fibres hitting anywhere else... remember shorts may also be present inside the sub box itself too.
Oh and the usuals, a good earth as well... an earth terminal can get corroded. it should be clean and firmly connected. it will cut out otherwise or not work at all... Same goes for the battery lead.
Is there an on light? when it cuts out... is this light off or still on? (thats if u need to differ as to whether its a 'power' supply prob or audio input prob. doubt it would be audio in.

yeah it cuts out like you mentioned,
not sure about the light etc as its under the front bonnet,
& i haven't had a chance to take a good look since we got back,
i'll have a squiz tomorrow

i think you need a bigger amp Nath, i don't think everyone who was at Valla heard it!!
I know i didn't hear the fireworks over AC/DC 馃お but i think it needs to go louder next time!!!
